The first written mentions of Jakubovice date from 1335. As early as 1350, a wooden church with a rectory dedicated to Saint Catherine is mentioned here. Over time, it fell into very poor condition, and so Prince Liechtenstein decided to build a new church in Baroque style. He entrusted the project to the Italian architect Domenico Martinelli, who designed a whole series of buildings for the Liechtenstein family. The new church was solemnly consecrated in 1697 and dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
It was renovated in 1822 and received electricity in 1930. A complete reconstruction took place from 1976 to 1980.
