Dětmarovice is a municipality in the Karviná District, in historical Cieszyn Silesia, on the left bank of the Olše River right on the border with Poland. It has two parts, Dětmarovice itself and the smaller Koukolná. The village first appears in 1305 under the Latin name Dithmari villa; the name comes from the German name Dietmar. In 1792 it was bought by Jan Larisch, who attached it to the Karviná estate. In 1855 the first trains of the Emperor Ferdinand Northern Railway passed through, and in 1869–1870 the Church of St Mary Magdalene was built. From the 1970s the village was transformed by a coal-fired power station; its coal-fired electricity generation ended in spring 2025. A local curiosity is the small grain windmills. The Olše floodplain is protected as a Natura 2000 bird area. More than four and a half thousand people live here.
