The family house of František Vladislav Hek, located in the village Dobruška in the district of Rychnov nad Knežnou, is a cultural monument and part of the exhibitions of the Vlaštěné muzeum. This object represents a typical folk grafted building from the eighteenth century and is the most visited among five museum exhibitions. On April 11, 1769, the house where the national contractor František Vladislav Hek was born is an important monument to the town of Dobruška and represents the architectural characteristics of the suburban suburban building.

The first written mention of the house dates back to 1679 when it was first listed as a single-storey building with a wooden shield. After the fire in 1806 the house had to be restored to its original form, confirming the dendrochronological dating carried out in 2021. Architecturally, the house is characterized by a L-shape plan, lime white plaster and shingles roof. In 1840, another construction was documented by the pavkručí port.

František Vladislav Hek, born to Berserk buyer Josef Hek and his wife Catherine, moved to the square after his four-year stay in his home home. Here he continued his studies and later became a well-known writer, composer and merchant. His life's fate was dramatic, but his legacy as the first New Bohemia satirica remains significant.

In 1972 the house was opened to the public after reconstruction and became a centre for the museum. Many personalities attended the opening ceremony, including actors from the television series F. L. Age. On 1 September 2003 the building was declared a protected monument.

The exhibition in the home is divided into three parts: a living room, a shop and a former black kitchen. The living saint resembles living in the early 19th century with hand-painted furniture and other period items. The shop shows a range of goods that were sold at the time, including wooden weight holders. In the black kitchen, the exhibition is focused on Hek's business activities and life reference.

Today, František Vladislav Hek's hometown is not only a monument, but also a place where visitors can learn more about the history and life story of one of the key personalities of the Czech national revival. Its importance is demonstrated not only by architectural value, but also by a cultural link that attracts many visitors every year.

The family house of František Vladislav Hek is not only a monument to architecture, but also a living witness to the history and culture of Czech countries. His visit offers a unique view of the life and work of one of the most important personalities of the time, making him a valuable destination for every historically curious tourist.

Welcome to this historic and inspiration shelter! You are standing in front of the home of František Vladislav Hek, one of the most important cultural monuments in Dobruška. This space, full of the spirit of the past, is part of the Natural History Museum and offers us the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the life of one of the most important Czech national promoters.

Let's look at the history of this place. We have the first written mention of the house from 1679, which shows its long tradition and importance for the municipality of Dobruška. The wonderful eighteenth century launched a new chapter of history with the birth of František Vladislav Hek on 11 April 1769. This man, whose thoughts and actions affected the entire national awakening, was born in this very house.

Architecturally, the house is the embodiment of a popular grafted building, which characterises the suburban suburb building. Look up and notice the elegant facade, whose details tell about the time of its creation. Although the house was completely destroyed by fire in 1806, its historical and cultural significance kept it alive in the form of this museum.

Now think about the personality of František Vladislav Hek. His work as a writer, poet and educator contributed to the awakening of the Czech nation. In this house he began his life path, which he continued to fight for Czech culture and independence.

Tips for visitors

For the best experience we recommend a visit in spring or autumn months, when the light is softer and the color of nature better matches the wooden construction. It is also more pleasant to walk around in these times.

Transport to the place is possible both by its own means of transport and by public transport. Please check the current connection and range before travelling in internet search engines or timetables.

If you are interested in photography, focus on the details of the grafted design. The best light to capture the texture of the 18th century wood can be found during the morning or late afternoon hours when the sun is not too sharp.

For families with children it is ideal to join a visit with a short walk nearby where you can follow the course of the stream Brták or look at the New Town Gate. It's a nice way to spend time out in the historic environment.

Don't forget to bring comfortable shoes to move around and possibly a camera to capture beautiful folk architecture.

Seasonal recommendations

In the spring, the surroundings of the home home in Dobruška wake up to life. The light is fine and nature around the building begins to green, which creates a feeling of freshness and a new beginning. I recommend wearing layers of clothing because spring weather is very variable. The best thing is to set off in the morning when the air is the cleanest.

The summer season brings bright sun and rich green trees that lie close to the house. The atmosphere is hot and full of energy. For a comfortable journey choose light, breathable substances and do not forget to protect against the sun. The ideal time to visit is early morning or late afternoon when the sun does not burn so strongly.

In autumn, the landscape around the monument turns into gold and red tones. The light is full and falls at a lower angle, which creates a melancholy mood. It's practical to carry a waterproof jacket or umbrella in case of dry weather. I recommend a visit in the afternoon when the colours of the leaves are the most distinctive.

In winter, the place is calmer and drier. If snow attacks, the house will get a cozy look in contrast to the white landscape. Days are short, so it is advisable to plan the journey before dark. Don't forget the warm shoes, gloves and a fat sweater to avoid the cold.
