The Nová Horka Castle is located in Nová Horka, which is today part of the city of Studénka in the Novojičín district. It was originally a Baroque castle from the mid-eighteenth century. In the second half of the nineteenth century, it underwent renovation and acquired neo-Gothic elements. It is surrounded by a castle park with a boundary wall decorated with sculptures. It was declared a cultural monument on May third, nineteen fifty-eight, and since twenty twenty it has been accessible to the public as one of the branches of the Novojičín Museum.

The location was not chosen by chance. The castle stands on a gentle hillock on the edge of the Odra floodplain, above the place where the Sedlnička stream flows into the Odra River. From there, a ford across the Odra could be guarded. Already in the fourteenth century, a manor of minor nobility stood here, which had feudal obligations to the bishop's castle Hukvaldy. The first mention dates from the year thirteen seventy-four. At that time, a certain Pec from Varta complained to the bishop's manorial court that a certain Lord Vok from Kravaře was wrongfully holding Nová Horka from him. Nová Horka nevertheless remained with the Kravaře family and was administered as part of the Štramberk estate.

For a long time it was merely an appendage to other estates. It only became the actual seat of the nobility in the mid-sixteenth century. In the year fifteen thirty-one, it is mentioned as the center of several episcopal fiefs on the right bank of the Sedlnička, and in the sale of fifteen sixty-one, alongside the manor, a fortified house appears for the first time. A land register from sixteen oh five describes it as a structure of stone and wood with several clean rooms and chambers.

The owners then frequently changed. The estate was held by, among others, the Petřvaldski family from Petřvaldu, the Sedlničtí from Choltic, Zdeněk Žampach from Potštejn, and Count Michael Ferdinand from Althannu. After his death, his widow sold Nová Horka in sixteen sixty for sixteen thousand five hundred guilders to Jan Baltazar and his son Albert Bedřich, counts Vetterů from Lilie. This family then retained it until nineteen forty-five.

Albert Bedřich became a canon of the Olomouc chapter, and therefore in sixteen seventy-two he transferred the fief to his younger brother Ferdinand Fortunatus. He ensured that the family line continued at Nová Horka. After him, the estate was taken over by his son Bernard Adam. In the year seventeen nineteen, just three years before his death, his son Karel Josef was born. He lived until seventeen ninety-two.
