Důl Ludvík, also known as Bučina, is a historical monument located in the village of Radvanice-Lipina. This coal mine was named after Louis Prince Salm-Reifferscheidt and his history dates back to the 19th century when the work began here. The importance of this monument lies in its contribution to the industrial history of the region and the technological innovations implemented during its operation.

The history of the Louis mine began with the works at the end of the 19th century. In 1843, the Radvanic cadastral was given exclusive custody, but the first attempts at coal mining were unsuccessful. In 1898 the Ostrava Mining Joint Stock Company opened a new mining pit Ludvík, which laid the foundations for future operation. After several breaks and technical problems the mine was opened in 1912 and became a separate race in 1916.

Architecturally, Louis mine is interesting with its infrastructure. The sinking of the Louis 1 pit began in 1898 and after breaks reached the final depth of 751.9 meters in 1961. Pit Louis 2 was founded in 1917 and deepened to 743.6 meters in 1960. The mine machinery included a steam engine from Brietfeld & Danek, which was later converted into compressed air. This machine is now part of the mining museum in Ostrava-Petřkovice.

Důl Ludvík has undergone many changes in ownership and administration. After its foundation, the mine was transferred to the ownership of the Mining and Metal Society in 1922. In 1961 he became part of the mine Julius Fučík as his race No. 3, and in 1989 he was transformed into an auxiliary race of the Dolu Progress. Coal mining in the mine was closed in 1992.

Key events include the opening of the new mining pit Ludvík in 1898, the opening of coal mine in 1912 and the ending of mining in 1992. An important attraction is the steam mining machine from Brietfeld & Danek, which was later transferred to the mining museum.

Today, Louis mine is in a suspended state and its objects have been partially destroyed. Although coal mining is closed, the monument is worth visiting thanks to its historical significance and technological innovations that were implemented during its operation. Visiting this place offers an opportunity to become familiar with the region's industrial past and to appreciate the technological progress that was achieved at the time.

Důl Ludvík is not only a monument to industrial history, but also a testament to many generations of miners and engineers who have contributed to the development of the region. Visiting this monument offers a unique opportunity to access the heritage of the past and appreciate its influence on the present time.

Welcome. You are standing in a place that once beat the heart of the entire industrial world of this region. Can you feel the strange atmosphere? Even though silence is spreading here today and the surrounding countryside seems calm, there is a history under your footsteps that changed the fate of people and whole cities. In front of you, there is a space that once ruled coal madness and the relentless rhythm of mining. This place, known as Louis Mine, or Bukina Mine, is not just a common land. It's a witness to the era of black treasure pulling from the depths of the earth to power machines and light in households. Feel this space as a place where human courage clashed with the country's relentless power.

Let us now return together to the time when everything began. Imagine the nineteenth century radius. In the year one thousand eight hundred forty-three, for the first time in Radvanic, the land was prepared for what was to come. At that time, the exclusive right to a lien was granted, which was the first step towards becoming an industrial pillar. Back then, it was just the first attempts, the first promising steps, to find out what the earth is hiding under our steps. But the real break came much later. In the year one thousand eight hundred ninety-eight, a great work began. Ostrava's mining joint stock company started building a new mining pit called Louis. It wasn't just a simple name, it was a symbol of a new era that was meant to change the face of the entire area.

Now pay attention to what you see around you. Even if you don't see these huge machines or towers here today that once dominated the horizon, try to imagine this incredible activity in your mind. Feel the atmosphere of this place and the weight it carries. Although today it is not a building with fancy decorations, this whole area is built on functionality and relentless work. Notice how this space intertwines with the surrounding landscape. Once there was not silence, but constant noise, dust, and movement of people who tried to extract the most valuable from the depths. Although the architecture of specific buildings may no longer be so obvious, the spirit of work and technical progress is still felt in every part of this country.

To understand the importance of this place, we need to look at the people behind it all. The mine bears a name that at the time carried great weight. It was named after Prince Louis Salm-Reifferscheidt. This family was linked to the development of this region and their name imprinted an identity on this place. Let us not forget another important man, Hugo Salm-Reifferscheidt. These people were not just owners, they were people who had the courage to invest in the unknown and in the depths that no one had ever explored before. Their visions and decisions created the basis for what later became a huge industrial whole.

The whole trip to this mine was full of obstacles. Imagine the years when mining could not develop, when it had to be expected due to technical difficulties or unexpected problems with nature. It was rehearsals. Yet in the year one thousand eight hundred and twelve, the mine finally opened for coal mining itself. That moment was like victory over darkness. And the success was so great that by the year one thousand eight hundred and sixteen the mine became a separate race. It was no longer just a small project, but a full pillar of industry that had its own strength and its own life.

See how time spills over and how ownership of this place has changed. In the year a thousand and nine hundred and twenty-two, the mine passed into the hands of the Mining and Metal Society. And then there were times of modern industrial grandeur. In the year one thousand nine hundred sixty-one, Louis became part of an even larger whole, the mine of Julius Futnik, as his third race. The whole process shows how a small piece of country, which in the year of a thousand eight hundred forty-three only paid for small rights, turned into an indispensable part of a huge industrial structure that fueled the entire state.

Maybe now he's asking you what the biggest mystery is or what it really is that you should be interested in. It's this incredible transformation. Imagine the contrast force between the small cadastral inscription of the mid-nineteenth century and the huge, relentless machine that this mine has become over the years. It's a story about how human need for energy and coal can transform even the quietest landscape into a place that never sleeps. This monument is not just about coal, it's about how human ambitions can steal into the very depths of the earth.

Now, please, continue your search. Take a walk around, perceive the atmosphere of this place, and try to imagine the thousands of people who have been struggling with their work every day so that the world around them can grow and shine. Thank you for coming to learn more about the history of the Louis mine. We wish you a pleasant journey to explore this interesting place.
