Dům čp. 101 is a classicist half-grafted building from the end of the 18th century, located in the village Štramberk in the district of Nový Jicin. This historical object is part of the town conservation and is listed in the Central List of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic.

The construction was built at the end of the 18th century when intensive construction and urbanisation development took place in Štramberk and in the wider European context. This process was influenced by enlightened ideals and technological progress, which was reflected, for example, by the expansion of existing communities. The history of the city shows a long tradition of settlement; For example, the urbarian from 1558 introduces 22 houses with a wooden arch in the square, there were 28 farms in 1614 and 53 houses in 1656.

Architecturally, it is a ground floor semi-grafted building of a rectangular floor plan with partial underpanding. It is oriented by two-axis shield facade to Jaroněkov Street and stands on a low stone suspect that equalizes off-road inequalities. The house has a saddle roof covered with split shingles with skylights on both sides. There are two plastered chimneys above the roof with a semicircular finish. The upright shield contains two windows, a crack and a cab. The entrance is located in the middle of the left three axis, while the right side has one window in the grafted part and three small windows in the wall part.

The original layout of the house was two-piece with a hall and a scar in the grafted part. In the second half of the 19th century, the rear economic part of the building was built for the barn and shed, which turned into a tripartite. This walled part serves as a garage today.

In 1855, there was a major fire in the city, burning down approximately 40 houses and two barns. Dům čp. 101 underwent reconstruction at the beginning of the 21st century, which helped preserve its original form.

Today, this object represents an important element of the historical development of Štramberka and is an authentic example of semi-grafted architecture, which is worth a tour within the urban conservation.

Welcome to Štramberk. You just stopped at one of those moments where time seems a little slower and where every building has its own voice. You're standing right in front of house number one. Before you continue your tour, I suggest you stop for a while, take a breath and soak up the atmosphere of this place. Feel the strange combination of peace and history surrounding you right now. Before your eyes is a building that is not just an ordinary house, but a living witness to the past that has been standing here for centuries.

Let us now look together at what this house represents. This building dates back to the late eighteenth century. Imagine the time, the time when the world began to change, when the old ways of building began to intersect with new ideals. This house was built at a time when Štramberk had already firmly rooted in its history and when the faces of the streets that you are walking through today began to form. Although the exact name of the builder or the exact year of his creation remains hidden in the fog of time, his presence here is undeniable. This house is not just a cluster of wood and stone, it is the result of the work of the people who lived here, worked and built their future.

Now pay attention to the architecture itself, which is right in front of you. If you look at the walls, you'll see it's not a simple building. It's a half-gagged house. Feel the interesting texture that arises by combining wood and other materials. This method of construction is very typical for our country and gives the building its warm but firm appearance. The house is on the ground floor, which gives it a sense of stability and firm anchoring in the ground. If you could look deeper, under the building itself, you'll find that the house has a partial basement, which gives it a solid foundation and protection.

Notice how the house is oriented. His main face, his shield facade, is headed straight for Jaronek Street. This facade is two axes, which means that balance and symmetry can be perceived in its structure. This balance is a typical feature of the style we call classical. Classicism in architecture brings order, peace and harmony. Although this construction is from the end of the eighteenth century, its face reflects the desire for balanced proportions and purity of lines. It is a beautiful example of how traditional folk elements, such as semi-grafted structures, began to connect with higher architectural directions.

It's important to realize how much this house is worth. It's not just an ordinary building in the urban landscape. House number one is listed in the Central List of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic. That's a very important fact. It means that both the state and experts recognise its uniqueness and its irreplaceable importance for our common history. It is a confirmation that the architecture of this house has its weight and that its preservation is a priority. In addition, it is located in the area of the city monument reservation. This means that the entire space in which you are currently moving is protected as a whole to preserve the true, historical face of Štramberka.

Maybe now you can think of who lived in this house. Who opened the door here this morning, who was drowning here in the fireplace in winter evenings and who was watching the weather changes through the windows. Unfortunately, the names of the specific personalities that were closely connected to this house have not been passed on to us by history. We don't know the names of the architects who designed this building, nor the exact fates of the families who lived here over the years. But that is where one of the greatest mysteries and, at the same time, the greatest beauty of historic cities lies. This anonymity allows us to leave room for imagination. We can imagine thousands of little stories that took place inside these walls. Any broken piece of wood or any inequality in the construction can be an echo of human life that took place decades or hundreds of years ago.

So this house is a silent storyteller. Even if they don't speak names, they speak their form. He speaks his style, his structure and his presence on this street. It's a monument that teaches us humility to time and to what remains of us.

Now that you've seen this interesting piece of history, I suggest you continue your journey. Štramberk has many more surprises for you. Walk through these narrow streets, see the details of every other building and try to find traces of the past in every piece of stone and wood. Any next step can lead you to further discovery. I wish you a beautiful and inspiring walk through this historic city. I bid you farewell and wish you this journey to fill you with the joy of discovery.
