The farm in Křenov is a protected building with Baroque character. It belongs to the historical complex together with the church, the cemetery chapel and the duster. Its architecture from 1732 reflects typical elements of Baroque construction. The construction was completed under the supervision of the Jesuit Johann Benedict Rustik Schindler and under the patronage of Prince Joseph Johann Adam of Liechtenstein, which gives it architectural and historical importance.

The history of the rectory dates back to 1732. The project led to the successful completion of the then vicar, Jesuit Johann Benedikt Rusticus Schindler. Thanks to the patronage of Prince Johann Adam of Liechtenstein, the complex has become a symbol of baroque art in the region. In 2007 the ownership of the building, which was sold in private and subsequently renovated, changed. In 2008 Ladislav Werkmann repaired the portal and between 2011 and 2012 he restored the Chinese salon Martin Bednář. Since 2018, administrator excurrendo Josef Slezák has been the administrator of the Køenov parish.

The architecture of the rectory is typical of the Baroque period, which culminated in the 18th century in Bohemia. The building is a single storey with a high Mansard roof. The entrance portal from the red sandstone dates back to 1732 and bears the name of architect Johann Schindler. The facade consists of five window axes divided by cordon, lizenas and embedded fillings. There is a cross and statue of the Virgin Mary Immaculata from 1730, the author of which is Jiří František Packák.

The key milestones include the completion of the construction in 1732, the reconstruction of the portal in 2008 and the reconstruction of the Chinese salon in 2011-2012. These steps reflect the architectural development and adaptation of the building to modern needs. In the interior there was an exposition closer to life and work of the priest in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Today the rectory of Křenov is a monument with a rich background that attracts visitors with its architecture and exhibitions. The current state after reconstruction allows to appreciate the historical importance and aesthetics of the entire Baroque complex. The place is worth visiting not only history lovers, but anyone who seeks peace and beauty.

The farm in Křenov is more than just a building; witnessed the history, art and spiritual life of the local community. Her presence resembles the importance of historical care and the value of the past for future generations. The visit offers a unique opportunity to dive into the Baroque era and appreciate its influence on Czech construction and culture.

Welcome to Křenov. You're standing right where history meets the present and where every stone tells the story of human faith, art, and time changes. Before your eyes, there is a rectory building that is not just an ordinary house, but a key element of the entire baroque ensemble that makes up this important place. Before you fully immerse yourself in the details of this building, please note the entire atmosphere of the area. You are part of a larger whole, where the church, cemetery chapel and old duster act in harmony. This space was designed to create a sense of order and nobility, and it is this rectory that is a solid part of it.

Now let's go back deep into the past together to understand why this building looks like this. In order to understand its essence, we must move on to the eighteenth century, to a time when the Baroque style had reached its greatest bloom. This whole baroque entity began to take on its present form in the 1930s. The actual construction of the rectory was completed precisely in the year one thousand seven hundred thirty-two. However, this was not a process that took place without clear guidance. The whole work was supervised by a man who was of great importance to this region and to the Church. It was a Jesuit Johann Benedikt Rusticus Schindler. His supervision and expertise ensured that the building was in line with the highest standards of the time. This building was built not only because of his work, but also because of the support of powerful personalities. For all this magnificent intention was the patronage of Prince Joseph Johann Adam of the House of Liechtenstein. This cooperation between the spiritual order and the noble family has created the basis for the monumental nature that you can perceive today.

Now that you know the roots of this building, please pay attention to its architecture. Look at the overall construction of the building. Fara is one-storey, which gives it some clarity, quiet and at the same time very stable and firm in the field. But what should interest you immediately, and what should give you immediate respect in the narrow eyes, is her roof. Raise your eyes towards the sky and feel the high Mansard roof. This roof is one of the most important features of Baroque construction. Its complex shape and distinctive tilt are not a random element; It serves for the building to gain in volume and for its silhouette to be clearly recognizable from a distance. This roof is like the crown of this building that gives it its distinctive appearance and pride. Note how this architecture reflects the efforts of the then builders to create a harmonious whole that dominates the surrounding space without being foreign.

If you look at the entrance part of the building now, you can see the details of how this monument has been carefully maintained for centuries. The entrance portal to the house went through an important repair in the year two thousand eight. Ladislav Werkmann was behind this work, who made sure that this important element was not lost in the abyss of time. Although the building seems static, its face has been constantly modified and repaired over the years to preserve its original beauty.

However, the history of this place is also associated with other works of art that you can see nearby. Already in the year one thousand seven hundred thirty a statue of the Virgin Mary Immaculata was created, by Jiří František Packák. This statue was an integral part of the spiritual life that shaped this parish for centuries and which surrounded this building.

It's very interesting to see how this building has changed over the years. History isn't just about centuries ago, it's about what's happening right now. In the year two thousand and seven, there was a major break when the building became a private property. This brought with it a new chapter in the existence of the rectory, as it followed a thorough reconstruction which aimed to preserve this baroque treasure for future generations. In the years two thousand eleven to two thousand twelve she devoted herself to a restaurant in a section called the Chinese salon on which Martin Bednář worked. This work shows that even in modern times, people are trying to preserve the beauty and quality that the ancestors left behind in these walls. In the year two thousand and eighteen, Josef Slezák joined as governor of the Køenov parish, another article in a long line of people who were connected to this place.

You may be interested in the idea of how a building that was built for spiritual needs can adapt over the centuries to new owners and new functions without losing its soul. It is a fascinating process where old stones are witnessing modern life, yet they still hold their baroque face and their noble presence. This ability to persist while changing is one of the greatest mysteries and at the same time the greatest forces of these historical monuments.

I hope this brief insight into the past has helped you better understand where you're standing right now. Now you have the opportunity to stop, to perceive the silence of this place and to look at the details we have just discussed. Don't forget to look at the other parts of this Baroque complex waiting for you. Křenov has many other stories that you like to reveal. I wish you a beautiful and inspiring walk through history and enjoy every moment you spend in this wonderful environment. Goodbye.

The best time to visit is morning or late afternoon hours, where soft light hits the Baroque facade and surrounding space.

With us we recommend to take comfortable shoes to walk around the complex and a photographic machine to capture details of the construction from 1732.

For the best pictures, focus on the architectural compliance of the rectory with the church and chapel; The most distinctive light is just before sunset.

Seasonal recommendations

In spring, the surroundings of the rectory awaken to life and the gardens bloom with fresh colours. The soft spring light highlights the facade details and creates a feeling of a new beginning. We recommend visiting the place in the morning when the air is the cleanest. Put on a light jacket because it can get colder in the shadow of historic walls.

The summer season brings rich green nature and intense sunlight, which fills space with energy. There are more visitors in the main season, so it is best to come first thing in the morning to enjoy the peace. Choose light and breathable clothes and do not forget sun protection if you plan to take a longer walk around.

Autumn colors the landscape around the rectory into golden and brown tones, which gives the place a nostalgic and peaceful atmosphere. A fog wound here creates a mysterious touch that is ideal for reflection. Layer clothing is suitable to protect you from changing weather, and a visit in late afternoon in the light of gold.

In winter, the rectory is quiet and in the case of snow it gets a dream look. The atmosphere is particularly warm at advent time, although outdoor temperatures are falling. Don't forget the warm sweater and shoes that keep your feet dry. The opening times are shorter in this period, so we recommend planning the arrival before dark.
