The Church of Saint Margaret in Mírov is a remarkable Baroque building located in Měrov, Olomoucký kraj. In the second half of the 17th century, this is proof of a postwar effort to rebuild after the Thirty Years War. The Italian architect Giovanni Pietro Tencalla proposed, replaced an earlier chapel destroyed during the conflict and is part of a chateau complex recognised as a cultural monument since 1964.

The origin of St. Margaret's Church is deeply intertwined with the historical context of the postwar Bohemia. The Thirty Years' War left much of Central Europe in ruins, causing a massive effort to rebuild the entire region. In Mírov, Bishop Charles II. Eusebius led these renovations between 1664 and 1687. With the task of overseeing the transformation of the chateau complex, Tencalla instructed to design a new church that would serve both religious and community functions. This period was an important stage in the history of the city, trying to recover from the devastation caused by the long conflict.

The church of St. Margaret features its baroque style, characterized by an asymmetrical facade and a prominent bell tower crowned with a massive dome and lantern. The original design of Tencally contained a longitudinal construction plan which was later modified as a result of various events. In 1778 lightning struck the church, which led to the reconstruction of its roof. The subsequent adjustments in 1789 extended the structure with a ground annex. Other architectural changes occurred between 1833 and 1848, when the sacristy was raised to match the presbyterium level. Post-1989 renewal efforts aimed at returning the church to its original design, stressing its historical and aesthetic importance.

During her history, the Church of St. Margaret experienced several dramatic events that shaped her present form. In 1778, a lightning strike destroyed the roof, requiring repairs. A more serious incident occurred in 1952 when the fire ravaged the church, destroyed wooden components and stored supplies in the event of damage to stucco plaster. Despite plans to demolish the damaged structure, the Conservatives intervened, leading to a recovery that began six years later. These events stress the resilience of the building and its lasting importance to the community.

Today the church of St. Margaret is a cultural and religious monument in Mírov. It is accessible for visits and serves various purposes, including ecumenical services and cultural events. In the interior there are fourteen statues of the Cross stations by Zlín sculptor Otilie Šuterý-Demel, which complement his artistic value. Despite some sources incorrectly assign it to Saint Mary Magdalene, the church is properly dedicated to Saint Margaret. Its historical importance and architectural beauty make it a valuable destination for those interested in discovering the region's rich cultural heritage.
