The Church of St. John the Baptist in Raškov, a village in the district of Šumperk in the Olomouc Region, is a Baroque building from the 18th century with elements of Classicism, which was registered as a cultural monument in 1958. This church is located in the cemetery area and represents an important cultural element for the surrounding area.

The history of this place dates back to the 14th century, when there was a parish church. After the 30-year war, the rectory was extinct, leading to a gradual exit from the original sacral site. In the second half of the 16th century, local evangelists built a wooden mosque in its place, but it was not permanently preserved. The new church was built in 1711 under the auspices and with financial support of Josef Jan Adam from Liechtenstein. The construction took place until 1733, but already in 1725 the church was ceremoniously consecrated. During the third quarter of the 18th century, new buildings such as bell tower and sacristy appeared on the premises, indicating the gradual development phase of the church.

It is an architecturally oriented longitudinal one-boat hall building. The ground plan of the ship has an inside oval shape, while the outer ground plan is rectangular with concave edges cut out, suggesting a triangular priesthood. On the north side of the priesthood there is a four-sided sacristy with an oratory and on the south side of the ship there is a small hall. A significant part of the building is the tower with bell tower, which has a stone character of Prince Josef Jan Adam from Liechtenstein. The interior of the church is encapsulated in valenas with plastic bars and embossed acantic ripples in the plaster, which adds an impression of richness and detail. In the western part of the ship there is a music ring with organami from the year 1875 by Franz Kolba of Bakarov.

The noble family of Liechtenstein, especially Josef Jan Adam z Lichtenštejna, was significantly influenced by the ownership and administration of the church, which initiated the construction of the present building. During its history the church went through several major events such as the fire in 1877 which caused damage to the roof and tower. The fire led to the restoration of the roof which was covered with stone shale in the following year.

The church of St. John the Baptist is not only an important architectural work, but also contains attractions such as a rare organ and richly decorated stone baptist. The church area includes a cemetery with a fenced wall and two circular chaples in western corners, which adds a touching atmosphere to the whole complex.

Today, the church of St. John the Baptist in Raškov is available for visit and serves as a place of prayer and cultural interests. Its history, architecture and works of art make this church an important monument worth exploring. Visiting this place offers an opportunity to become acquainted with the rich history and culture of the Šumperka region on the Olomouc Region.

The Church of St. John the Baptist in Raškov is not only a monument, but also a living space that reminds us of the importance of history and culture in society. His visit offers a unique view of the past and inspires recognition of the value of preserving cultural heritage.

The Church of Saint John the Baptist in Raškův is a Baroque structure from the 18th century, which was significantly shaped by Classicism. Since 1958 it has been listed on the register of cultural monuments.

A parish church already stood in Raškův in the 14th century. In the second half of the 16th century, local Protestants built a wooden prayer house in its place. The parish apparently ceased to exist during the Thirty Years' War. Construction of today's church began in 1711 at the initiative of Joseph Jan Adam of Liechtenstein, who also contributed financially to it. The work continued until 1733, though the church was formally consecrated already in 1725. The parish was restored at the new church in 1784.

In the third quarter of the 18th century, a bell tower was added and apparently also a vestibule, and in 1802 a sacristy. Only from this period do we know the names of some of the builders and artists. The work and renovation were carried out by the prince's master builder Egidius Zbítek from Úsov and painter Joseph Kail from Šumperk. In 1877, part of the roof and tower burned during a fire at a neighbouring house. A new roof was covered with stone slate in 1878.

The church stands in the middle of the cemetery. It is enclosed by a boundary wall and in its western corners are two circular chapels. The left one is connected with the mortuary. In front of the area stands a stone cross with the body of Jesus Christ.

The church has a single nave and an interesting ground plan. Inside it forms an oval, outside a rectangle with corners cut inward, which indicate a triangular chancel with massive buttresses. On the north side of the chancel is a sacristy with an oratory, and from the south side of the nave a small vestibule with a gabled roof adjoins. To the west stands a tower with a bell chamber. In its facade is subsequently mounted a stone coat of arms of Prince Joseph Jan Adam of Liechtenstein. The main entrance is protected by a vestibule with a triangular gable, into whose plaster is carved Christ's monogram in the form of the letters IHS.

The hall is covered by a barrel vault. The bands between the segments indicate plastic rods in the plaster and among them wind relief acanthus scrolls. At the apex of the vault is a four-leaf mirror frame. On the music gallery in the western part of the hall are rare organs from 1875 from the workshop of Franz Kolb from Pekařov. The church's furnishings also include a richly decorated stone baptismal font of chalice form from the third quarter of the 18th century.
