The Church of St. John the Baptist in Semín is a single-nave building with a rounded apse and a simple façade. Originally Romanesque, it was later rebuilt in a baroque style. This historic monument has a rich history dating back to the 13th century.

The church's origins date back to the 12th or 13th century, with written records available from 1348. It is possible that the church underwent a Renaissance renovation. In the second half of the 17th century, it was definitely rebuilt in a baroque style, featuring new windows, a new roof and vaulted ceiling, a new vaulted ceiling in the presbytery, a square sacristy, and a western entrance.

Throughout its history, the church has changed hands several times. Heřman ze Semína owned it from 1339 to 1359, followed by Mikuláš Tatka ze Semína in 1379. Jan Sirotek ze Semína owned the church from 1395 to 1404, and Anna ze Slatinek from 1398 to 1401. The Henykéřové ze Semína family owned it in 1414, followed by Jan Kapoun ze Smiřic and his daughter Anna in 1480. Jan Zdechovský ze Sekyřic owned the church in 1494, as did Vilém z Pernštejna in the same year. Finally, the District Administrative Commission in Přelouči took ownership in 1920.

The Church of St. John the Baptist features a unique apse with a podkovovité shape and is one of the few remaining Romanesque churches in the Pardubice region. The wooden bell tower, built around the mid-18th century, is an interesting feature. A smaller bell, known as Poledník, was cast in 1542, while a larger bell, known as Ježíš or Jan (Hranáč), was cast in 1606.

Today, the church remains an important cultural heritage site and is worth visiting to experience its rich history and architecture. The church has been listed on the cultural heritage register since 1958, and recent restorations have ensured its continued preservation for future generations.
