The church of St. Lawrence is a parish church of the parish Klobouky u Brna in the district of Břeclav. The first mention of the temple in Hlobouky dates back to the 13th century, the first written document from 1349. The initiation of this original church is unknown. The original building was expanded over the centuries, but suffered the consequences of religious unrest and hostile invasions. The worst situation occurred at the beginning of the Thirty Years' War.

In March 1655, the monastery of Zabrdovice, the owner of the chateau, decided to build a brand-new church dedicated to St. Vavranice. The construction has an unusual north-south orientation - due to the spatial conditions of the site. A part of the original church was used in the construction. The new temple was probably completed around 1658, when it received the gift of a bell from the Abbot Olenia.

There were successive modifications and repairs following the raising. The first repair took place in 1691. The most important reconstruction was made by the church between 1861 and 1862: it was reinforced by iron bolts, shingles covered with wings and sheet metal, removed by a sandpress lid and a tower clock set up. The windows were enlarged, the orator and the music ring were set up. In 1890, the tower received a new onion pit with lantern. The Second World War brought artillery strikes to the church, but post-war repairs gradually replaced damaged parts. The roof cover and facade were restored in the 1960s. The mid-1980s brought important static security and reinforcement. The general reconstruction of the tower, its roof and balding with the restaurant facade took place in 2001.

It is an architectural structure in the north-south axis with a rectangular boat ending approximately a square priesthood. It's connected to the sacristy with the oratory. There's a prism tower coming out of the north facade. The facades are smooth with segmented sealed windows. The main entrance has a valently sealed undertower. The ship and the sacristy have rolled arches with sections that separate a semi-circle arched victory arch.

The interior is decorated with a two-piece main altar from the middle of the 18th century, originally from the litenčice church, and a Marian altar prepared in 1843. There are historical bells in the tower: the original bell from the Lorraine bell tower of Benedict Briot from 1658, the bell Vavřinec from the bell tower of Dytrych from 1992, the small bell from 1670 originating from the chapel of St. Barbara and the smallest bell of the dimmer from 1924.

The church is protected as a cultural monument and represents an important example of Baroque sacral architecture in the region.

Welcome to the Hats at Brno. Right now, you're standing in front of a baroque temple dedicated to Saint Lawrence. Your view attracts this impressive historical structure, which dominates its surroundings and carries within it centuries of human destiny, joy and hard trials. Let the atmosphere of this place take place for a while, perceive its solid matter and follow us on a short journey to the depths of its past.

Let's look at how this temple was created and what history is linked to it. The first written mention of the local shrine dates back to 13 hundred and forty-nine, but the documents at that time do not tell us the details of its appearance or who it was originally dedicated to. However, we know that the original Gothic ancestor of the 13th century was gradually expanded before being destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. But destroying the old building didn't mean the end. In the years 16-50-5 to 16-50-8, the present Baroque form of the church, which you now have before you, grew in its place. The construction was completed and sanctified, which was also confirmed by the gift of a rare bell from the Abbot Olenia in the year sixteen hundred fifty eight.

Now pay attention to the architecture itself and the details you can observe at the construction site. You are faced with a demonstration of baroque construction, which contains traces of many building modifications and general repairs. Take a look at the facade and outer walls of the temple, where since nineteenth hundred and sixty-two Renaissance tombstones have been mounted from St. Wenceslas church. If you focus on the overall arrangement, you may be surprised by one building oddity. The church has an unusual north-south orientation, which was caused by the local conditions at the time when it was restored after a 30-year war. Over the centuries, the temple has undergone other interventions, such as nineteen hundred and sixty-one to nineteen hundred and sixty-two, extensive modifications have taken place, during which the sanctum lid has been removed, the construction has been strengthened and the music ring has been added. Decades later, in the year twenty-one, a general repair of the tower took place, which included reconstruction of the roof, new topping and reconstruction of the facade.

If we look at the deeper history and stories associated with this place, we find that people have been protecting their cultural heritage for generations. Although the names of particular architects or historical personalities that would shape the fate of the church remain hidden in mystery and we will not find them in the sources, the story of the building itself is sufficiently eloquent. It's a story about the rebirth of the ashes of the Thirty Years' War, the resilience of the locals and the care they gave to their temple in the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Inside the temple there is a rich interior, dominated by the main altar dating back to the middle of the eighteenth century, and also unique bells, among which the already mentioned historical bell from the year sixteen hundred fifty-eight excels.

There are also several interesting and small mysteries associated with this place. Remember what we said about initiation. Originally, the church was dedicated to another saint, but the first written mention of 13 hundred and forty-nine of this original initiation no longer presents it without further details, so we do not know who it belonged to before it became the home of St. Lawrence. Another interesting feature is the unusual north-south orientation of the construction, which the builders had to access because of the limited space in 164,55,5.

We hope you enjoyed the tour of the outer premises of this baroque jewel. I believe you are interested in the story of St. Lawrence's Church and that you are taking a strong cultural experience from the Hats at Brno. Thank you for your attention, I wish you a nice rest of the day and I look forward to seeing you again when exploring other interesting places of our country.
