The church of Saint Lawrence in Malhostovice is a filial church located in the village of Malhostovice in the area of Brnovenkov South Moravian Region. This historical monument dates back at least to the end of the 13th century, with the first documented mention of February 20, 1407. It is recognized as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic, it is evidence of the architectural and religious history of the region.

The origin of the Church of St. Lawrence is rooted in the late 13th century, when the Czechs experienced significant political and social changes under the leadership of King Wenceslas II. Although specific details of its original construction remain weak, historical records suggest that it probably existed at the turn of the 14th century. The initial history of the church is connected with local disputes that include important personalities such as Anna, the widow Jaroslav of Šelmberg and Vilém z Kunštátu a z Loučky. These conflicts stress the importance of a church within the community, in particular as regards its ownership and administration by Olomouc bishops who played a key role in its establishment.

Architecturally, the original medieval structure of St. Lawrence's Church was largely lost over time. The only survivor of this period is the Gothic shrine. At the end of the 15th century, the church was added to the early Gothic core by a late Gothic sacristy that reflected architectural evolution during its history. In the mid-19th century, however, structural issues caused by high groundwater levels required complete reconstruction in 1834. This led to the creation of an existing structure which replaced the deteriorating original building.

Throughout his history, the Church of St. Lawrence experienced various administrative changes and challenges. After a 30-year war, she was embarrassed because of the lack of clergy, which led to her administration being managed from Lomnice between 1658 and 1707. The establishment of the Bishopric of Brno in 1777 revitalized the local church administration, which ultimately led to Malhostovice falling under the jurisdiction of local President Drásov. Despite these challenges, the church continued to serve its community until the new building was considered necessary.

Several key events and curiosities mark the history of this monument. During the 19th century, the original main altar, allegedly taken from the church in Zabrdovic, contained a inscription indicating it was made by Frant. Maltz in 1733. Although it was moved due to groundwater, Malhostovice did not experience the outbreak of cholera when his cemetery was moved in 1832. The reconstruction of the church in 1834, completed and sanctified on 28 June 1835, marked an important chapter in history.
