Křížová cesta (Travná) Way of the cross

The cross road in Travna near Javorník in Jesenick is a protected cultural monument from 1894. It consists of fourteen Neo-gothic brick chaplers with plastic plates, located in a wooded slope.

The pilgrimage site in this location was created in 1851 when a spring of water appeared next to the chapel. In 1858, according to the plan of the maple builder Schwarzer was built a free standing single-boat chapel of the Virgin Mary La Salette, which replaced the original wooden building. In 1889 an artificial cave (grotta) was established at the source and in 1894 the cross road itself was completed. Its construction fell into the period of industrialization and modernization of Europe, which also affected the religious landscape in the Czech Republic.

The road consists of fourteen neo-gothic niche chapels made of artificial stone. Each one contains plastic surgery and under nothing is placed German descriptions of the importance of individual stops. The entire complex begins at the iron ornamental gate and leads along the path of the slope to the top of the staircase which brings visitors back to the gate.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary La Salette is built from a combined and separate masonry with a saddle roof, a sandbox and a cross. The facade is supplemented by two circular windows and a wooden hall, while the inner space of the ship covers the cross vault. There is a painting of the Virgin Mary La Salette on the neo-gothic altar. Near the chapel there is a well and grotta with a statue of the Virgin Mary Lourdes.

From 2005 to 2006, the academic sculptor and restorer Jakub Gajda performed the reconstruction of plastics in chapel with numbers I to IV.

The monument is a valuable example of historical architecture in the natural environment. It is a suitable destination for visitors interested in the sacral structures of Jesenick.
