Baroque pestilence column The Holy Trinity with Pietarian sculpture, located in the central part of the Holy Trinity Square in the village Choltice, is a unique monument to the baroque art and spiritual history of the region. It was created in 1720-1730 and since 1958 it has been protected as a real-estate cultural monument of the Czech Republic. This monument boasts rich architecture and symbolic content that reflects the faith and hope of the people of that time.

The creation of the column is closely linked to the Baroque period in the Czech countries, when many religious monuments were built as an expression of gratitude for ending epidemics or as a prayer for protection. The Baroque style, characterized by dramatic expressiveness and richness of detail, is depicted in this sculpture with great care. The column is located in the central part of the Holy Trinity Square north of the entrance to the local castle, highlighting its spiritual and historical significance.

Architecturally, the column is built on a wide paved stage, which is bounded by a four-sided metal grid. On the central prism pedestal there is a high plinth with a profiled base and a ledge on which the column ends with a Corinthian head. This construction is not only technically complex but also symbolically rich. At the top of the pillar is a statue of God the Father sitting on the clouds, dressed in long clothing and holding the scepter and the globe. It has a triangular halo above its head, highlighting its divine character.

Under the column towards the castle is located the statue of Pieta, which represents the Virgin Mary with the body of the dead Christ. This scene is expressed with deep emotional intensity: the sitting Virgin Mary in a long dress holds the body of Christ between the knees, whose head is twisted backwards. Christ has a bearless face and long curly hair, which adds to the touching of this scene.

The column underwent reconstruction in 2007-2009, which ensured its preservation for future generations. This maintenance was an important step towards protecting cultural heritage and allowed visitors to enjoy the beauty of this Baroque monument in its original form.

Today is the column The most holy Trinity with Pietarian sculpture not only an important cultural and historical object, but also an attractive place for visitors. Its location near the castle Choltice adds additional importance to the whole area and offers the opportunity to explore the historical monuments of the region.

This monument is a reminder of the rich history and artistic expression of the Baroque era. Its symbols and architecture remain relevant today, offering visitors an opportunity to honor the past and reflect on their own lives. The visit of the column of the Holy Trinity with Pietarian sculpture is therefore not only a way into history, but also a experience full of spiritual sense and beauty.
