Zábřež Castle is located in the Ostrava-Jih district of Ostrava, not far from the Karpatská stop. It is the oldest structure of the former village of Zábřeh nad Odrou and has been a cultural monument since February 25, 2005.
A fortress once stood on this site. It is first documented in the year 1529 and still stood here in 1593. At the turn of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, Ctibor Syrakovský from Pěrkov had the castle built.
In 1652, the castle was acquired by the Olomouc bishopric. It placed the seat of the economic administration of the local chapter court here and soon had the building reconstructed in baroque style. The castle was also home to employees and their families. A report from 1921 still mentions ten households with fifty people. A hundred years later, a chaplaincy was established in the newly added left wing and a brewery was set up in another part of the castle.
