Bosyně is a chateau in a small village of the same name in Vysoká district Mělník. It is a construction that was created by a gradual reconstruction of the original fortress. The chateau area has been protected as a cultural monument since 1966.

The mansion has been here since the 14th century, when the village was divided among several owners. The fort was first recalled in 1408 when Jan Homut was based on it. Род Homut owned a farm for decades - his descendants were Bosyně until 1675. Among the family members was Radslav Homut mentioned in 1432, Jan Homut, who in 1465 married Anna of Pochapel, and Jindřich Homut deceased around 1540. After Henry's death, seven sons inherited his small estate, the oldest Jiří Homut extended Bosnian property to Chode and the Bosnian court.

Since the second half of the 16th century, property has changed faster. In 1575, Jiří Homut sold part of the village to George Kaplířa from Sulevic, which in 1587 sold it to Albrecht Pentipeški, who attached it to the Byšice estate. The fort subsequently faded. After the death of Albrecht Five and the participation of his son Václav Felix in the state uprising (1618-1620), the estate was confiscated. In 1623 Polyxena z Lobkovic bought it. The Lobkovic Fortress is expected to be restored, it was sold in 1668 by Václav Eusebius Popel z Lobkovic Václav to the New Year's Eve Smrček from Monk and was bought from him a year later by Daniel Pachta z Rájova.

The smells belonged to Bosyně until 1845. During their ownership, the fort was converted into a chateau in the Baroque style. The estate was part of the Liblik estate. In 1845, it was won by Count Fridrich Dey. In the second half of the twentieth century the chateau area served the state farm.

The main chateau building is a one-storey building with a rectangular plan. On the ground floor there is a large hall with a floor ceiling. The protected area includes stables, a long ground barn and remnants of the wall. All buildings are decomposed around an irregular courtyard.

Bosyne is a small village near Vysoká in the Mělník region. There stands a castle in it, which was created by converting an older fortress. A noble residence was here as far back as the fourteenth century, when the village was divided among several owners.

The fortress is first mentioned in the year 1408, when Jan Homut lived there. His family then held it for several generations. In 1432, Radslav Homut is recorded, and in 1465 another Jan Homut, who married Anna z Počapel. A later owner, Jindřích Homut, insured a dowry on the fortress for his wife Mariana z Kokořova. He died around 1540 and seven sons inherited the small estate from him.

The oldest of them, Jiří Homut, expanded the property with Chodeč and with a farm in Bosyne, which until then had belonged to the town of Mělník. In 1575, however, he sold part of the village together with the fortress to Jiří Kaplíř ze Sulevic. He added five more villages to the estate, and in 1587 he sold it all to Albrecht Pětipeský. The Pětipeští z Chyš connected Bosyne to the Byšice estate. They no longer needed the fortress, so it fell into disrepair.

After Albrecht's death in 1596, Václav Felix Pětipeský inherited the estate. He took part in the Estates Revolt in the years 1618 to 1620 and as punishment lost all his property. The confiscated Byšice estate was purchased in 1623 by Polyxena z Lobkovic. The Lobkovicové most likely restored the fortress.

In 1668, Václav Eusebius Popel z Lobkovic sold the Bosyne estate to Václav Silvestr Smrček ze Mnochu. A year later it was purchased by Daniel Pachta z Rájova. At that time, Bosyne belonged to the Liblic estate. The Pachtové z Rájova had the fortress converted into a Baroque castle and held it until 1845, when Count Friedrich Deym acquired it. In the second half of the twentieth century, the complex was used by a state farm. Since 1966, the castle complex has been protected as a cultural monument.

The main building of the castle is single-storey and has a rectangular floor plan. On the ground floor there is a large hall with a coffered ceiling. The complex also includes stables, a long single-storey barn, and land surrounded by remnants of a perimeter wall. All the buildings stand around an irregular courtyard.

Tips for visitors

Seasonal recommendations

Spring brings fresh greenery and a waking garden to the park near the chateau, creating an optimistic atmosphere. Soft spring light is ideal for shooting facade and surrounding landscape. We recommend to dress in layers because the morning cold can still be felt. The best time to visit is in the morning when the air is the cleanest.

In the summer months the monument in full sun and surrounding park offers a deep shadow under old trees. The atmosphere is alive and full of energy. Due to the high season and traffic, it is advisable to arrive immediately after opening to avoid the biggest crowds. Don't forget light, breathable clothes and plenty of fluids.

The autumn season turns the landscape around Bosyně into a sea of gold and red colors, which gives the place a nostalgic touch. The fog in the valley creates a mysterious mood and the silence in the park is deeper. The practical recommendation is moisture-resistant footwear and waterproof jacket. An ideal visit in late afternoon hours is when the sun paints the chateau walls into warm tones.

In winter, the chateau is peaceful and quiet, especially if snow covers the landscape. The lighting is silver and the days are short, which strengthens the sense of isolation from the outside world. It is necessary to wear very warm clothes and tight shoes.
