Budiš Tvrz

Budiš is a deserted castle site known as Rundel or Rondell, located approximately 1.2 km southwest of Podbořanský Rohozec in the Louny District. Situated at an elevation of 535 meters on the foothills of the Doupov Mountains near the source of the Dolánecký potok, this site has been protected as a cultural monument since 1964. The castle likely consisted of a single tower built on an island with a diameter of 18-20 meters, surrounded by a water moat about seven meters wide. Despite its historical significance, no written records specifically pertain to the castle itself.

The origins and context of Budiš are somewhat elusive due to the lack of specific documentation. However, archaeological findings from the 19th century suggest that artifacts such as horseshoes, halberds, and coins dating back to the reigns of John of Luxembourg and Charles IV were discovered on the site. These monarchs ruled Bohemia during a period marked by both conflict and cultural development in Europe. In the years 1424–1454, revenues from Budiš and Budišský háj were associated with Křečov Castle, indicating some level of economic activity linked to the site.

The construction materials included stone, which was dismantled in the latter half of the 19th century, leaving only remnants of its original form.
