The primary school in Librantice was established after a long period of time when the education of children in the village took place in unsatisfactory conditions. The first attempts at organised teaching date back to 1778, when it took place in private buildings of local families. A quarter of a century later, in 1804, the village switched to a more durable solution - it built a special village cottage serving school purposes. In 1817, the municipality then initiated the construction of its own school building, which we now know as a building of the Lebanese municipal office. This gradual modernisation of education in the village culminated in the early 20th century.

The new school building got its place in the center of the village. The foundation stone was ceremoniously laid on April 15, 1913, about which the commemorative year in stucco is maintained on the front of the building. The teaching started on 7 January 1914 in the new building. Some historical sources, however, differ in their dating - some assign the origin of the school already in 1910, others up to 1919-1920, which shows a failure to unite records in local archives.

The architectural design of the building was chaired by Václav Rejchl ml., while the implementation of the building was ensured by Václav Rejchl st. It can be assumed that Václav Rejchl the Elder was also involved in the design itself, as evidenced by the use of characteristic decorative elements, especially pilasters with Ionian warheads, which also appear in other its realizations, such as the Morušovka villa.

The free-standing building represents a single-storey, underglued object oriented parallel to the main communication. In style, it's eclecticism with Art Nouveau elements. The building grows from brick masonry, is covered with lime plaster and decorated with stucco decoration. Part of the original design was also a park adjustment in front of the main facade, which was not preserved over time.

In 2002 the building was formally declared a protected cultural monument by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. Thus, the school building from the beginning of the 20th century received due recognition for its architectural and historical values.

Welcome to the historical monument of primary school in Librantice! You are standing in front of a single-storey building that captures attention with its eclectic design with Art Nouveau elements. This structure, built between 1913 and 1914, is not only an architectural work, but also a live memory of the Librantic community.

Let's go into history. In 1778, the first attempts at organised teaching in this area were recorded when it took place in the private buildings of local families. A quarter of a century later, in 1804, the village decided to build a special village cottage for school purposes. This history naturally led to the construction of a new school building. The cornerstone of this now protected building was laid on April 15, 1913, which meant the beginning of a new chapter in education in Librantice.

Look up and notice the architectural features of this building. Václav Rejchl younger and older, both recognized architects, contributed to the design, which is considered an interesting example of eclecticism with elements of Art Nouveau. Although specific details may not be visible at first sight, the overall structure and harmony of these elements create a unique impression.

Although there are no particular historical personalities associated with this building, its architects and general history reflect the rich cultural heritage of this area. The building itself witnessed many generations of students who have passed these rooms.

Interestingly, despite its relatively short history, the building was declared a cultural monument of the Czech Republic in 2002. This recognition underlines its importance not only as a school establishment but also as an architectural and historical heritage.
