The church of St. Andrew was first mentioned in writing in 1365. This means that its original Gothic core dates back to the 14th century when it was built as a simple but solid sacral structure for local believers. At that time Světí was a small settlement, and the church served here as a spiritual centre. Later, at the end of the 16th century, he went through Renaissance modifications - changes in the interior and possibly in the exterior gave him a new look, corresponding to the fashion trends of that time. But he didn't experience a definitive change until the end of the 18th century when he was scarred. This later adjustment gave him the elegance we still feel in part today.

Now look at the facade of the church. Its simple but harmonious lines reflect centuries of transformation. Notice how the tower with the sacristy rods above the presbytery - typical of medieval churches, where the sacristy served as a narrow space for the preservation of liturgical objects. Even though the church looks calm today, his past was full of dramatic events.

One of the most interesting periods in his history was the Prusse- Austrian war in 1866. Then, in 1863, before the conflict, the roof of the church burned down and one of his bells was damaged. But three years later, during the war, the church was transformed into a Lazaret - a place where wounded soldiers were treated. You can imagine how the groaning of the wounded sounded and how not only the soldiers prayed here, but also the locals for health and peace.

Now pay attention to the church bell. The oldest of these dates back to 1539 and was smoked by the bell tower Václav Konvář from Hradec Králové. The second bell was cast more than half a century later, in 1603, by Simeon. The third, so-called dying man, appeared only in 1768. Each has its own history - some rang during funerals, others warned of danger. After the fire in 1863, one of them was seriously damaged, but despite that, the church became an important place not only for worship, but also for the life of the village.

And now let's talk about one of the most interesting events connected to this church. In 1926, a pulpit collapsed - the place where the priest preached to the faithful. This event must have been a great shock to the people at the time, because the pulpit was an important part of the church. Although this is not much talk today, it is a reminder that even so seemingly stable buildings are not eternal.
