The Evangelical Church of the Lord Jesus in Trmice is a remarkable church with neo-Gothic elements and Neo-Romanesque architecture. Located in the village of Trmice near the river Bílina and is oriented northeast. The church is important in its architecture, which combines elements of neo-Gothic and New Romanesque style.

The church was built as a preaching station of the congregation of the Czech Brotherhood Church in Ústí nad Labem. The church project was created by architect Paul Lange, who specialized in neo-Gothic architecture. The construction of the church began in 1905 and was completed in 1907. The church was consecrated on November 1, 1907.

The architecture of the church is characterized by a saddle roof with an octave sandbox, which replaces the function of the tower. The main entrance to the church is located in the southwest facade and consists of a portal with a gothic flower. The portal is covered by a small canopy with a gothic sandstone flower on top of it. The entrance to the church is surrounded by a broken arch with Romanesque columns.

The church interior has two floors. On the ground floor there is a corridor connecting the hall of the main entrance and the side entrances, which are ended by two-arm staircases to the floor. On the ground floor there is also a clubhouse, an apartment of a church and an annex bathroom with toilets. On the second floor there is a prayer room with wooden formatted ceiling of trapezoidal cross-section. The priesthood and the ship are separated by a Tudor-shaped arch. The slightly elevated circle allows access to the sandbox where the original bell from Karl Schwabe is located.

The church was originally used by the Australian Choir, followed by the German Evangelical Church and since World War II the Czech Brotherhood Church. In 2003, the church was declared a cultural monument. The church was renovated at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The church is remarkable by its unconventional architecture and history. Interestingly enough, the church has an unconventional bell on the bottom stand. There is an original bell from Karl Schwabe in the sandbox.

Today the church is accessible to visitors and is worth a visit. It's interesting to see his architecture and history.

Welcome to Trmice. Stop for a moment, take a breath and fully perceive the space you are in. You are standing in front of the Evangelical Church of the Lord Jesus, a building that is peaceful and noble in the landscape. The first impression that radiates from it is a sense of harmony and spiritual balance. Look at the overall shape of the building that stands before you. It's a place where history meets an architectural purpose, and every detail tells its own, silent story about faith and community.

Let us now look together at how this building was built and in what context it was built. The path to its origin began in 1905, which was the time when the architecture sought inspiration in the past to express current identity and spirituality. The construction was not random, it had a clear purpose and purpose. The church was designed as a preaching station of the Czech Brotherhood Church church in Ústí nad Labem. This means that this space was to serve as an important point for the believers in this area, a place where they could meet, listen to God's words and stärit their faith without having to travel far to the big city.

The architect Paul Lange was behind the overall appearance and technical implementation of the construction. He was a man who in his work specialized in neo-gothic architecture, a direction that returned to popular shapes from ancient times, to their nobility and spiritual depth. Lange has put his experience and knowledge into his project in Trmice, which has created a work that is complete in itself. The building progressed at its pace and its culmination was the first November of 1907, when the church was ceremoniously consecrated and opened for prayer and worship. Imagine that day, that excited cluster of people who were hoping to look at the newly completed building that was supposed to be their spiritual home for many generations.

I now ask you to pay full attention to the architecture itself. Look carefully at the building and see its shapes. The church is remarkable by combining two important styles. The dominant feature is the neo-gothic, which you can recognize according to a certain vertical orientation and elegance, but the architect Paul Lange also involved new Romanesque elements in the project. The New Romanesque style brings to the building a sense of stability, strength and rounding, which creates a very interesting contrast with neo-gothic lightness.

Notice how the church is oriented. The whole building is heading northeast, which is a specific arrangement that affects how light falls into space and how the building fits into the surrounding landscape. Now please raise your eyes to the top of the building. Here you will see a saddle roof, which gives the construction its characteristic profile. And if you take a closer look, you'll notice an eight-sided sandbox. The sandbox is the small extension on the roof, which often serves for decoration or for marking the space above the altar in Christian architecture. Its eight-sided shape here is a very fine but distinctive detail that breaks the roof rhythm and gives it dynamics.

Now please return to the ground and focus on entering the church. Look at the portal, the entrance gate to this sacred space. Notice here the detail that is the real jewel of this building, and this is a gothic flower. It is a fine ornament that adorns the entrance and welcomes everyone who comes here. This flower is not just an ornament, it is a symbol of purity and bloom, which is to remind visitors that they enter the space for internal growth and peace. These details show how powerful architect Paul Lange perceived beauty in small things.

When we think about the people who were connected to this place, we may not find in the records the names of specific personalities that are world-famous, but that's what the real value of this church is. It is a monument to ordinary people, believers from Trmice and the surroundings, for whom this church was the center of their spiritual life. It was a place for their joys, their sorrows, their weddings and their goodbyes. Each stone of this building carried within it hope and prayer of thousands of people who passed through it. The association with the choir in Ústí nad Labem then points to wider networks of communities and mutual support within the church.

Maybe you're wondering what happened to the church in the later years. The construction history didn't stop in 1907. The building had to face trials of time and various social changes. At the turn of the twentieth and twenty-first century, namely around 2000, the church underwent important reconstruction. It was necessary to ensure that its beauty and functionality were preserved for future generations. This care was awarded and in 2003 evangelický kostel Pána Ježíše was officially declared a cultural monument. This means that the state recognised its irreplaceable value not only for Trmice but for the whole Czech architecture and history.

The interesting thing that might interest you is that particular specialty of architect Paul Lange. At the time the church was built, neo-Gothic was a very desirable style because it evoked the era of the flowering of European cities and cathedrals. Lange, however, was not just a copy of old patterns. He was able to insert new Romanesque elements so naturally into the neogotic framework that the building did not appear torn but as a harmonious whole. It's basically an architectural dialogue between two epochies that takes place right here in front of your eyes.

Now that you're standing in front of this building, imagine how light changes in it during the day. How the morning sun hits northeast orientation and how shadows extend around a portal with a gothic flower. Feel the silence surrounding this place and think about how many generations of people have sought comfort in these walls and answers to their life questions.

This concludes our short journey through the history and architecture of the Evangelical Church of the Lord Jesus in Trmice. I hope this interpretation has helped you to see more than walls and roof, and that you have felt the spirit of this place. Now I encourage you to look at the building at your own pace. Take a walk around it, look again at the octave sandtusk, touch the details of the portal and be inspired by the calm that radiates this place.

Thank you for your attention and I wish you a pleasant continuation in your discovery of the beauty of our landscape. Goodbye.

Seasonal recommendations

Spring in Trmice brings the awakening of nature around the evangelical church of the Lord Jesus. The surrounding meadows and trees are covered with lush greenery and flowers, which creates a calm and refreshing atmosphere for visitors. The lighting is natural and soft, ideal for shooting facade without sharp shadows. Practical advice includes clothes layered according to variable weather, often combining an umbrella with a light jacket. The best time to visit is in the morning when the air is fresh and the roads are less disturbed. Avoid weekends if you want to have a memorial almost to yourself because spring trips are becoming more frequent.

Summer offers the longest days and the hottest weather, allowing long walks around the church. The sun shines strongly, so it is advisable to bring your hat and plenty of drinking mode. The atmosphere is more lively because more tourists and locals are gathering here. I recommend arriving as early as possible in the morning to avoid the biggest crowds and heat that pile up in the morning. Clothes should be light and breathable. During this period, it is important to plan a visit so that it can be connected to other activities in the region, because the monument itself may not require a full day.

Autumn brings a unique colour of leaves to Trmice, which contrasts with the stone structure of the church. Lighting is lower and warmer, which gives the whole space an intimate and thoughtful character. Nature around the monument is in full bloom of autumn shades, which is ideal for photographic images. Practical advice includes layered clothing because temperatures are falling and the mornings and evenings are cold. The best time to visit is the late afternoon when the sun shines through the trees and creates dramatic shadows. There are fewer people in this period, which allows a peaceful examination of the details of architecture without interference.

The winter in Trmice is quiet and quiet, often sprinkled with snow, which highlights the contours of the church and surrounding landscape. The lighting is short and cold, which creates a dramatic contrast with warm inner space if the monument is open. The atmosphere is meditation and different from other seasons. Practical advice includes very warm clothes, including gloves and hats, because outside can be very cold. The best time to visit is lunch, when the day is the hottest and brightest. Due to the shorter day and possible restrictions on operation in winter months, it is appropriate to check in advance whether the monument is accessible. Winter visit offers a unique view of the memory in a quiet, snowy environment.
