Jakubský mlýn Mill
Jakubský mlýn, a cultural monument of the Czech Republic, stands on the castle of Jakub pond in the village Dymokury. This water mill is remarkable by its history dating back to 1572 and architectural elements that reflect its long existence. Its grafted part was declared a cultural monument in 2007, highlighting its historical and cultural value.
The first written mention of the Jakub Mill dates back to 1572 when it was purchased with the village Dymokury family Křineckých. Over the years, he has undergone various property transfers between prominent families and personalities. In 1621 the village with the mill was confiscated by Nicholas Gernštorf and sold to Jan Eusebius Klan from Belaza in Lipnice. Shortly afterwards, in 1622, he bought the mill Albrecht z Valdštejna, which sold it to Františka Klan. Probably around 1711 there were partial modifications and up to the present date it was modified around 1800. In the 19th century he owned the mill rod Kopřivů, which sold it to the family Černín in 1896. The mill burned down in 1933, but a brick storey mill was added to the preserved grafted part.
Architecturally, Jakubský mlýn is interesting in its grafted northern part, which is a ground floor construction on a rectangular floor plan with a valb roof and a skylight. The outside walls are unbraided, while the interior is divided into two parts of the hall by three rooms. There was a furnace in the skylight with an exit wall and a beam tipping ceiling. The southern part of the gravel is adjoined by a four-storey walled new miller with a mansard roof, windows with non-filtered shambles and a surface of barefoot in demanding areas. In the vicinity are the remains of the iron-concrete overflow to the turbine, which was listed as a Francis turbine with 15 HP output in 1930.
Dendrochronological study revealed that the grafted part of the mill was built from oak beams and the interior was used with cracks. The beams were washed at different times, the oldest dating is from the turn of 1681 / 1682. In construction modifications in the 18th century, strains were used in 1706-1711 (secondary wood), 1791 and 1798 / 1799.
Since 1957 the mill was owned by JZD Dymokury, which adjusted it to a recreational building. After the restitution proceedings, the mill was returned to the Chernín family. This history reflects not only architectural and technological evolution, but also social and political changes in the region.
Today Jakubský mlýn is accessible to visitors who can learn about its rich history and architectural features. Its importance as cultural monuments makes it not only technological but also cultural value, which attracts both historians and tourists. Jakubský mlýn is a testament to the past and its visit offers a view of the lifestyle and technology of earlier times.
