kaple svatého Antonína Paduánského (Nadryby) Chapel

The Chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua stands in the center of the village of Nadryby on the square, on the shore of a pond. It is a Roman Catholic chapel and is protected as a cultural monument.

Its story began in the year seventeen twenty-five. At that time, a three-sided bell tower first grew here, probably according to a design by architect Jan Blažej Santini. According to a commemorative plaque from the same year, it was built by the abbot of the Plaský monastery, Evžen Tyttl, and local residents helped him. The bell tower was originally dedicated to the Holy Trinity. This corresponds to its shape as well, because the entire composition is based on the floor plan of a spherical triangle.

The chapel itself was added only in the year eighteen sixty-five. An oblong building dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua was then built onto the bell tower. It was built by local resident Antonín Šimice. His son then had an altar with an image of Saint Anthony made at the end of the nineteenth century. He also established a foundation so that a mass would be held on this saint's feast day.

An interesting discovery came in the year eighteen ninety-eight. A box with a commemorative plaque from seventeen twenty-five was found in the roof of the bell tower. In the following years, people placed various writings and period objects in it, among other things coins. The chapel is documented to have been renovated in the year nineteen hundred five, when it received a new dome.

The structure has two parts. The bell tower with a triangular floor plan has convex walls and corners with horizontal joints. In the middle of the walls are semicircular niches and above them rectangular recessed panels. The tower is covered by a pyramidal roof with a bell chamber. Hanging in it is a bell with the mark of abbot Tyttl, dated to the year seventeen seventeen, so it is several years older than the bell tower itself.

The oblong nave adjoins the tower with windows ending in a semicircle and with a gabled roof. Entry is through a rectangular portal with a semicircular light opening. According to some descriptions, the interior is vaulted with a barrel vault, according to others it has a flat ceiling. Inside the bell tower is only a shaft by which one can reach the roof. Instead of a ladder, there are only openings in the wall.
