kaple svatého Jana Nepomuckého (Albrechtice u Frýdlantu) Chapel

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the northern part of Albrechtics u Frýdlantu. It is a Baroque structure from seventeen twenty-nine and is spiritually administered by the Roman Catholic parish of Dětřichov u Frýdlantu.

Permission to build was requested by the local authorities on July twenty-seventh, seventeen twenty-nine by the mayor of the village, Krištof Jahn. Permission came as early as September seventh, and the chapel was built that same year. It was consecrated in seventeen thirty, when the consistory also recognized it as a community foundation. Major reconstruction began in eighteen sixty-eight and ended on June twenty-seventh, eighteen seventy-one, when the chapel received a new roof made of slate tiles.

Before the First World War, a May devotion was held here every evening during May, but after the war this custom disappeared. The war also deprived the chapel of its bells. Both original bells were confiscated in nineteen sixteen. One bore the date seventeen ninety-nine, and the other was a small bell dedicated to the Holy Trinity from eighteen eighty-seven.

In nineteen twenty-three the village organized a collection for new bells. From the village of Nová Ves they purchased a bell cast in sixteen forty-seven for sixteen hundred crowns, and ordered a smaller bell from the Oktav Vinter company in Broumov. Both were blessed on June tenth, nineteen twenty-three by the priest Nowak. During the repairs at that time, the tip of the small tower was opened and memorial documents were placed inside it. Since then, services in the chapel have been held twice a year, in May and at the autumn feast.

For the two hundredth anniversary of the chapel, in nineteen twenty-nine money was collected for a new attic. Work was completed in July nineteen thirty under the direction of Emmerich August. The project was designed by local native Anton Rösler and Prince Clam-Gallas donated the building timber. The village had no more money, so the remaining costs were covered by donations.

In the year two thousand during further reconstruction, a metal box was found in the cupola containing documents, photographs, and coins from the years eighteen seventy-one to nineteen thirty. Helena Pospíšilová translated the documents. Together with the renovation initiator Vladimír Limberský, she then prepared a publication called The Chapel's Message. The renovation was carried out by the Liberec company SCANDIC Consulting at their own expense.

The chapel has a square floor plan with rounded corners and a small bell tower on the roof. The windows and rectangular entrance in the front are arched with segmental arches. Inside there is a barrel vault with four lunettes and a flat altar niche on the end wall.
