The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Rudné, part of the village of Vysopec in the Karlovy Vary Region, is an example of brick faith and civic solidarity. Until 1874, the location belonged to the parish district of Nejdek. The growth of the settlement and the need for its own spiritual centre led to the establishment of a church foundation to finance the church, the parish and the school serving both Rudném and the neighboring Highlands.

The construction took place in a relatively short time. The foundation stone was laid in 1786 and already two years later, in 1788, the church was consecrated. Its importance in the local community was directly linked to the older tradition - the believers from Vysoké Pice walked to a new temple from an already existing chapel called Strickkapelle. A cemetery was also part of the church, which was probably founded in direct connection with the plague epidemic and famine in the years 1771 to 1772, when approximately 600 people died in the neighboring Nedeck. This victim motivated the establishment of his own burial ground for Rudné, New Hamry and Deer.

The parish under this church included the municipalities Rudna and Vysoká Pec. According to the 1930 figures, there were approximately eighteen hundred twenty Catholics and three hundred forty-six non-Catholics living here, suggesting a significant presence of Catholic religion in the region. But this community was hit by the Second World War and the condemnation of the German population. The church became unused and gradually decayed.

Restoration came between 1985 and 1996, when the native of Rudného and the High Pice - both Czech and German - decided to rebuild the temple. This extensive reconstruction was only done through the involvement of the local community.

It is an architectural construction with a distinctive narrow prism tower on the west facade, which is completed by the apex roof. The presbytery with triangular closure is covered by a saddle and valb shingle roof. Once upon a time, there was a polygonal bell - a sandtuscan - with onion shagging. A rectangular sacristy is added on the south side. The entrance to the church takes place through a rectangular portal in the south wall of the tower.

The interior hides architectural layers. The platform ceiling in the ship covers the reed ceiling, the presbytery uses stucco with a mirror. A particularly remarkable device is: the pseudo-Romanesque main altar, two rococo side altars and a rococo pulpit with rich figural reliefs and evangelist statues. The crust is decorated with Baroque statues of St. Jachy and St. Anne, and in the presbytery is hung the Baroque painting of St. Elizabeth from the second half of the seventeenth century.

Today's Rudné is located on the route of the learning path between the High Píce and the Red. From the Baroque parish next to the church, the social institution uses the building for its clients. Since 1973 the church has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Rudné, which today belongs to the municipality of Vysoká Pec in the Karlovy Vary region, was formerly a parish church. Today it is a subsidiary church and has been protected as a cultural monument since 1973.

Rudné long belonged to the parish district in Nejdek. A turning point came with an ecclesiastical foundation established for the construction of the church, rectory, and school in Rudné. These were to serve the inhabitants of Vysoká Pec as well. A separate parish then emerged here. The cornerstone of the church was laid in 1786 and it was consecrated in 1788. From Vysoká Pec, processions of believers once came here. They departed from a chapel called Strickekapelle, which no longer exists today.

The cemetery by the church is probably older than the building itself. It likely arose in connection with the great famine and plague epidemic in the years 1771 to 1772. About 600 people died in the Nejdek parish district at that time. Rudné, Nové Hamry, and Jelení therefore needed their own cemetery. In 1930, the parish had 1820 Catholics and 346 non-Catholics. After the Second World War and the expulsion of the German population, the church remained abandoned and fell into disrepair. Between 1985 and 1996, it was extensively restored and renovated by Czech and German natives from Rudné and Vysoká Pec.

The church is a single-nave structure. A narrow and tall prismatic tower with a pyramidal roof is set into the western façade. The entrance leads through a portal in its south wall. The presbytery is closed in a three-sided manner and covered with a shingled roof. Above it once stood a many-sided bell tower called a sanctus tower, topped with an onion dome. A sacristy adjoins the south side of the nave. The outer walls are simple and are pierced by wide windows with semicircular arches. To the south of the church stands the former Baroque rectory, which today is used by the local social care institution.

Inside, the church has a flat ceiling. Above the nave is a reed ceiling, and in the presbytery a stucco mirror. The main altar is pseudo-Romanesque. It is complemented by two Rococo side altars and a Rococo pulpit with rich figural reliefs and statues of evangelists. On the gallery with wooden balustrade stand Baroque statues of Saint Joachim and Saint Anne. In the presbytery hangs a Baroque painting of Saint Elizabeth from the second half of the 17th century.

Around the church runs an educational trail from Vysoká Pec to Rudné.

The trail begins right at the church and leads around historical monuments and picturesque natural sites. Another interesting feature is the former Baroque rectory, which today serves as a building of the social care institution. For families with children it is also advisable to visit nearby forests and meadows where children can run and discover nature. All these activities can be included in a trip lasting up to half an hour from the church.

For families with children, a visit to the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is interesting thanks to its historical character and the opportunity to explore the surrounding nature. Children can look at statues and paintings on the ceiling that tell biblical stories. The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary has been standing here since 1649, but the original wooden church was built earlier, about 1600. Imagine you were walking by that time and you saw just a small, simple church of oak bark. At the time, there were villagers who worked in the fields and in the woods.
