The Church of Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary in Siřemi presents a filial church in the district of Louny. Since 1964, the building has been protected as a cultural monument. Its creation was preceded by a major break in the eighteenth century - in 1747 an older church dating back to the second half of the fourteenth century was demolished. Only three years later, in 1750, his replacement was created in the Baroque style, which stands here today.

The construction is characterized by the characteristic features of the 18th century Baroque. It is a one-boat church with a rectangular plan. Presbyterium has a five-sided shape, with an added sacristy on its northwest side. The facade divides the lessee and segmented windows. There is a prism tower in the southwest facade. The interior of the ship is encapsulated with a vaulted vault with a section on the belts, decorated with rococo stucco stucco dating back to the second half of the eighteenth century. The presbytery also has a valence vault; its internal space divides broken pilasters.

The original church equipment was not preserved. The church kept the main portal altar and two side altars dedicated to Saint Anne and Saint Jan Nepomuk. The interior included a pulpit with sculptures of evangelists. Remarkable was the small side altar of the Virgin Mary from 1688, preserved from the time of the previous church. The inventory also included benches from the mid-eighteenth century. All these elements have been destroyed throughout history.

The 20th century brought the construction of a heavy test. Before 1989, its demolition was planned, which could not be carried out, but the construction was subject to long-term devastation. The break was brought only in 2007, when a project was drawn up to preserve the building connected with the personality of the writer Franz Kafka, who lived in the village in 1917 and 1918. The aim of the project was to preserve the construction and stop its further damage. The specific reconstruction took place in 2014, when the church underwent a repair financed by the Architectural Heritage Rescue Programme, which is worth CZK 400,000.

Today, the harmony of Baroque architecture, supplemented by rococo decoration, can be noticed in the Siroese church. The gradual reconstruction of the building in recent decades allows visitors to admire valuable architectural and decorative values of the sacral construction of the eighteenth century.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary stands in Siřemi in the Louny region. It is a Roman Catholic subsidiary church and has been protected as a cultural monument since 1964.

The church already stood in Siřemi in the second half of the fourteenth century. In 1747 it was demolished and three years later it was replaced by a new building in the Baroque style.

Before 1989, there were plans to demolish it. This ultimately did not happen, but deterioration and damage could not be prevented. In 2007, a project connected with the writer Franz Kafka, who stayed in Siřemi in 1917 and 1918, was initiated. Its goal was to preserve the church in its then current state and prevent further damage. In 2014, the Program for the Rescue of Architectural Heritage contributed to the renovation with an amount of four hundred thousand crowns.

It is a single-nave church with a rectangular floor plan. The nave is followed by a presbytery, which is the space around the main altar, concluded with five sides. A sacristy is attached to its northwestern side. The façade is articulated by lesenes, which are flat vertical strips in the masonry. The windows have segmental, that is, slightly arched finishes. In the southwestern elevation rises a prismatic tower.

The nave is vaulted with a barrel vault with coved sections on the ribs. It is decorated with Rococo stucco from the second half of the eighteenth century. The presbytery also has a barrel vault and its inner walls are articulated by angled pilasters.

The original Rococo furnishings from the second half of the eighteenth century were destroyed. The main altar had the form of a portal. The side altars dedicated to Saint Anne and Saint John of Nepomuk were panel altars. The church also contained a pulpit with statues of the evangelists, a small side altar of the Virgin Mary from 1688 and benches from the middle of the eighteenth century.

Photography is allowed in the church, but it is advisable to make sure that the light looks favourably on the facade and interior. The best time to take pictures is in the morning or in the afternoon when the light isn't too hard. Especially beautiful are the pictures from the church window, which offers a view of the surrounding landscape. In the interior avoid flashing of lightning to avoid damage to sensitive surfaces.

Around the church it is worth visiting the natural park Blatno, which is about 5 kilometers away. This park offers rich flora and fauna and is ideal for a short walk or picnic. Seasonal recommendations

Spring Spring at Siřemi brings a gentle transformation to the church and surrounding landscape - the sun lights up the stone masonry with golden light while nature awakens around. In April and May spring flowers flourish in the surrounding area, especially white and nettle, and the air smells of moisture and earth. The atmosphere is calm, but sometimes it gets thinned by light rain, which gives the church a slightly silver shine. Suitable is clothes in warm but not too heavy colors - light tones reflect the sun, while light jackets protect against sudden cool winds. The best time to visit is in the morning when the church is still free and the light falls directly on its tower. Watch out for insects - there are bees and flies in May, so take a repellent.

Summer In the summer months church on Siřemi shines with the sun and its stone details appear to be carved into the golden background. Warm days attract visitors, but also crowds - in July and August it is the busiest, especially in the morning. Nature turns around into a green oasis, with tall trees and flowering bushes that shadow the path to the monument. Suitable is light but covering clothing - hat or scarf protects from the sun, while comfortable shoes allow walking through the surrounding fields. To avoid crowds visit the church early in the morning or in the afternoon when heat is milder and light softer. In July there are sometimes short concerts or lectures, but their programme is not always publicly available.

Autumn Autumn at Siřemi brings the church and landscape a magical change - the leaves in the trees turn yellow, orange and red, while the light becomes softer and more scattered. In September and October, the air is clean and refreshing, but it already feels cold winds that bring to the church a gentle cold. The atmosphere is calm, almost meditative, ideal for reflection. A warmer outfit - a sweater or a sweater with long sleeves, while wearing a hat or a hat on your head is suitable. The best time to visit is in the morning when the church is still free and the light falls oblique, highlighting its architectural details. Watch out for wet leaves - after the rain, the roads can be slippery, so wear firm shoes.

Winter Winter Siřem offers the church and surrounding landscape a mysterious beauty - a snow blanket with white stone wall, while the surrounding area turns into a white desert. In December and January the light is short and soft, but at the same time dimming gives the church a dramatic touch. The air is cold and clean, with a fine freezing wind that brings a sense of peace to the church. Hot clothes - jacket, warm gloves and hats, while on your feet wear firm shoes. The best time to visit is in the afternoon when the church is still open, but the crowds are smaller. In Advent time, there are sometimes short services or concerts, but their program is limited. Watch the ice - after rain or at night the roads can be slippery, so move carefully.
