Kostel svatého Ducha (Staré Město) Church
The Church of the Holy Spirit is an architectural and historically interesting example of a modern sacral building. The long-term project has been developed since 2002 according to the design of Slovenian architect Ivo Goropevšeka. The construction brings a new city, which until then had only a small church of St. Michael with a capacity of about 100 places, a new space for believers and their meetings.
The initiative to build a new temple was based on the Specilised unit of St. Michael, which formed in 1907 with the aim of either expanding existing churches or building a new temple. This vision was only realised after more than 90 years, when the construction finally began in the first years of this millennium.
The architectural solution of the temple is thoughtful and symbolic. The two towers that form the front of the building represent Cyril and Methodius. Their axes converge to one point, which simplifies the Zamorania to one point - God. Between the towers there is an open space in the shape of a cross which creates a characteristic and easily recognizable silhouette of the building. This solution makes the temple an architectural dominant place.
In January 2013, before the complete completion of the construction, the first concert took place in the new temple. Public events have already taken place in the hall created as the Velkomoravská Square. This square continues to be used for concerts and other public meetings, making the temple a part of the cultural life of the village.
The ceremony took place on Sunday, October 5, 2014, when the temple was ceremoniously blessed by Bishop Pavel Posád. At the end of 2014 regular services were started in the church. By this year more than 90 million crowns were invested in the building, with total costs of around CZK 100 million in 2019.
The interior of the temple is not yet complete. It remains to be completed with window windows and other details that will complement the spiritual nature of the inner space. Yet the church has become an important part of the spiritual life of the Old Town and demonstrates in its modern approach how the sacral architecture of the present времени can still be deeply religious and spiritually important.

The Church of the Holy Spirit in Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště is a new building. It began to be constructed in 2002 according to a design by Slovenian architect Ivo Goropevšek.
The effort to build a new church in Staré Město has a long history. The faithful here had only a small Church of Saint Michael at their disposal with roughly one hundred seats. That is why the Brotherhood of Saint Michael was established in 1907. Its aim was to enlarge the existing church or build a new one.
The front of the massive structure is formed by two towers, which symbolize Saints Cyril and Methodius. Their axes converge, which is meant to express direction toward a single goal, toward God. Between the towers remains a free space in the shape of a cross.
A new Moravian Empire Square was created in front of the church. In January 2013, the first concert was held in the new building. The square continues to serve public events including concerts.
On Sunday, October 5, 2014, Bishop Pavel Posád solemnly blessed the church. At the end of that year, regular services began in it. Until then, the building had cost over 90 million crowns. By the year 2019, the total costs were around 100 million. The interior has not yet been completed, missing among other things are window mosaics.

Seasonal recommendations
In the spring the surrounding church awakens into life and soft sunlight creates a pleasant atmosphere for observing historical architecture. Due to the ongoing reconstruction, more dust may be present in the area, so we recommend a visit when the air is the cleanest. Dress well to prepare for temperature fluctuations between morning cold and afternoon heat.
The summer season offers the longest days and intense lighting, which highlights the details of the building, even if some parts are covered by scaffolding. In the main summer season there are the most visitors at the sights, so it is best to arrive early in the morning to enjoy peace. Prepare light and breathable clothes and don't forget to protect yourself from the sun.
Autumn moons bring golden leaves to the Old Town and often a fog wound that gives the place a nostalgic and quiet touch. The atmosphere is ideal for peaceful observation of the historical environment. A waterproof jacket and high-quality shoes are essential for a pleasant walk around the building, as the pavement can be wet or slippery.
In winter time light is low and shadows are long, which creates a dramatic appearance of the monument. In advent time, the surroundings are very quiet, although the church area is limited due to repairs. Due to frost and snow it is necessary to choose very warm clothes and shoes with good grip. Please also count on shorter opening times during this period.
