The Church of Saint Francis Seraphim stands in the centre of Hostimi and serves as the parish church of the local Roman Catholic parish. It has a Baroque core to which a Classicist extension was added. It is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
The parish in Hostimi appears for the first time in written sources in the year 1322, as a property of the Premonstratensian canonry in Pernegger. The church itself is documented in 1394. At that time it was a Gothic building, which was however demolished before 1569 by the Protestant owner of the Hostimi estate.
The estate then belonged to Jiří Valečský of Mírov. He had a new Renaissance Protestant church built in 1569. At the end of the sixteenth century he was buried in the church crypt together with his wife. The new church kept the bells from the original building, which dated from 1502.
The Catholic parish in Hostimi ceased its activities in 1620. During the recatholicization in the first half of the seventeenth century, the church returned to the Catholic Church. In 1657 there stood only a single altar in it. A priest returned to the parish again in 1731.
In 1727 the church was slightly enlarged and in 1829 another enlargement took place. The organ was also renovated and a music gallery with an external entrance was added. In 1853 the church underwent a reconstruction, during which the side altars, pulpit and baptismal font were renovated.
The twentieth century affected mainly the bells. During the First World War, the bells were confiscated for war purposes and those that remained met the same fate during the Second World War. In 1948 the organ was repaired and in 1984 the music gallery. The church received new bells in 1990. They are named Francis and Mary.
