St. John the Baptist Church is one of the protected cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. Together with the two Baroque statues of St. Peter and St. Paul placed in front of his front face, he creates an important set.
The church was built out of practical need. The older temple on the high rise at the chateau park was no longer enough for an increasing number of parishioners. The work lasted 13 years and in 1794 the church was completed and dedicated to St. John the Baptist. The last resting place was under it the tomb of the Silva-Tarouca family, which they had there until 1923 when they moved it to the chateau park because of the underwater.
Internal equipment comes from different sources. The altar painting, mensa, pulpit and part of the benches were obtained from the abolished monastery of St. Clara in Olomouc. The side altars and other benches come from the Olomouc Temple of the Mother of God. The paintings for the side altars were donated by local native Jan Hunčovský. The organ purchased in Vienna in 1807 lasted until 1898 when it was replaced by a new tool from Jan Tuček, a Kutnohorsky company. The tower was repaired and increased in 1876, tower clock installed in 1899 and replaced in 1989. At the end of the 20th century, there were major repairs to the building, and in the 21st century extensive reconstruction of the roof, heating and electric drive of the bells.
It is an architectural construction with a semi-circular presbytery, which is 38 metres long, 16 metres wide and 20 metres high. The facade is highlighted by the risalite with pilasters and triangular shield. The four-sided tower with the clock dial rises above the roof. The interior has a presbytery covered with a condom with a Prussian vault, a circle with three flat pockets and a floor made of blue and white stones. The main altar painting - the baptism of Jesus Christ - comes from the Vienna painter F.A. Maulbertsch. The side altars are dedicated to St. Anthony of Paduan and St. Jan of Nepomuk. A gallery of rare paintings is complemented by the depiction of the Mother of God with cherubims attributed to Joseph Manes and the painting of Saint Leopold by Count Augustus Silva-Taroucky.
There are two baroque statues from Olomouc sculptor Ondrej Zahner from the 1930s. On the right is St. Paul with the book, on the left is Saint Peter with the keys. In 1985 they were set on high stone pedestal and in 2015 they passed through restaurants.
