The suburb of Prostějova was built between 1759 and 1766 to serve capuchins. First there was a chapel with a crypt dedicated to St. Barbara, which was consecrated on 7 August 1762 by Olomouc general vicar Leopold Podstatzkou. The Capuchin Order gradually expanded its seat - in 1764, the Quardian P. Firmianus made a request to the Bishop of Olomouc to convert the chapel into a church. The original Capuchin church was characterized by modesty - it had only a small tower above the priesthood.

This monastic peaceful development was interrupted by the reform wave of Josef II. In 1784 the monastery was abolished and with it the support of the order disappeared. The valuable items from the interior - gifts from local citizens or the resources of the Order itself - were sold out in auctions. The church, without care and purpose, gradually faded.

Only 90 years later, the city council set up to save him. On 22 April 1899 it initiated a renewal, accompanied by a change of initiation. Originally, the church was to be dedicated to the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, but at the suggestion of the local priest Karl Kráčmar, the title was changed to Saint Cyril and Methodius. On October 21, 1906, P. Antonín Vrán took the award. The first administrator was P. František Starý, who organized funerals in addition to proper services. In 1925, next to the church of PAX, the town's ceremonial hall was established for non-Catholic citizens.

The second half of the twentieth century brought back hard times to the temple. After 1950, he served as a morgue. When he started building a new estate around him, he became an object of interest to thieves and vandals. Gradually he was stripped of all the windows, statues of altars, damaged organ and the interior covered with dust and pigeon droppings. The temple seemed to be definitely falling.

The change came unexpectedly at the beginning of 1988, when the spiritual administrator of the parish of the Ascension of the Holy Cross tried to offer pews from the temple to a certain priest. When he came to pick them up, he was terrified of the state. And he organized a group of young adventurers, which began to clean up the rust. Local communists learned of the action and tried to ban it - but the brigade simply ignored their order. Their efforts were crowned by the ceremonial service on Sunday 14 August 1988, which meant reopening the church. Since then, the temple has returned to the life of the parish and continues to serve the local community.
