The Church of Saint Charles Borromeo in Opatovice is a Roman Catholic church that stands as a testament to the enduring faith and architectural evolution of the town. It transformed from a modest chapel into an important religious building by the late 19th century. Located in the municipality of Opatovice, within the Brno-venkov District of the South Moravian Region, this single-nave church with a tower was constructed between 1868 and 1869 on the site of a previous chapel from 1772. The origins of the Church of Saint Charles Borromeo trace back to when Opatovice was under the administration of the Benedictine monastery in Rajhrad. The original chapel, built in 1677 following devastating plague epidemics, served as a place of worship during floods and certain holidays. This chapel, dedicated to the plague saints including Saint Charles Borromeo, was destroyed by fire in 1769. In response, a new, larger chapel was constructed and consecrated on November 4, 1772. However, structural issues led to debates about whether to repair or replace it entirely.

By the late 19th century, during significant social and political changes under the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the decision was made to construct a new church. The project was initiated by P. Vojtěch J. Slouk OSB, with Karel Jiruš designing the plans in January 1868. Excavations for the foundation revealed human bones, indicating a former cemetery at the site. The original chapel was demolished in May 1868 to make way for the new structure. By June of that year, a commemorative stone was consecrated by Günther J. Kalivoda OSB, and construction progressed swiftly. In October, four new bells were delivered from Vienna, enhancing the church's spiritual ambiance.

The architectural development of the Church of Saint Charles Borromeo reflects its evolution from a small chapel to a significant religious edifice. The original 1772 structure was replaced due to structural issues, leading to the construction of a new church with a tower added in 1847. This phase included the addition of a bell weighing 100 kg, which later required replacement due to damage.
