Originally, there stood a wooden chapel with a rectory in Bohdíkov. However, in sixteen seventy-eight it burned down. A new church was built in seventeen twenty-five by Prince Joseph John Adam of Liechtenstein. The builders had to deal with difficult terrain. The land was swampy, so they reinforced it with wooden piles to a height equal to the distance from the ground to the windows. Because of the subsoil, the tower could not stand at the entrance, where the ground was subsiding the most. They therefore built it at the opposite end, behind the apse. There used to be a cemetery around the church, which was closed in eighteen ninety-two. Between nineteen ninety-six and two thousand one, the church underwent a complete reconstruction.
