The world around us was in a period of great social and political change, a period of enlightened absolutism. The rulers, such as Emperor Josef II, tried to reform society, introduce new orders and bring modernization, but even in these times, people still held fast to their traditions, their crafts and their homes. It is in this important historical context that this wooden structure has been built. It's not just a random object built for offensive use; It's a materialized history that tells us the story of how people in this region lived, how they built their homes and how their lifestyle evolved in accordance with nature and the possibilities at that time.

You will see a younger wall barn that carries a trail of a different period and a different way of construction, and a barn and a windmill. Every such building has its maker, its man who put his work into it, its efforts and its hope of the future. In the case of Kotul's wooden body, it's a man named Folwarczny. And if you look really carefully at the entrance to the building, you can see something incredibly personal and rare. One of the beams has his name carved right into the wood. It's like a personal signature that has survived for centuries so that he can tell us today who was the one who founded this place and who once lived in it. Imagine the moment when Folwarczny first entered his new home and entered his name into the very essence of the building. It's a fascinating combination of man and his work that makes us think about the fleeting of human life and the incredible durability of what remains of us.

But the history of this place has not always been about peace and stability. In the last century, the fate of Kotulo's wooden body has gone through dramatic twists that might surprise you. For decades, this building has been open to the public, serving as a place of meeting and learning. However, in 1989 there came a time when the visitors' door closed and the building was in a downturn, in silence and oblivion for some time. It was a difficult time when this piece of history seemed to be lost or completely absorbed by modern development. Fortunately, however, fate has decided otherwise. In 1997, there was a ceremonial reopening and since then this building has successfully taken on a new role as an important branch of the Museum of Těšín. This moment was absolutely crucial for the whole site, because thanks to it this monument was preserved, treated and revived for all of us.
