Lázeňský dům Mír in Constantine Spa is a one story building from the 1920s. It is important mainly because of preserved cubist elements. The property serves as a spa guesthouse and represents an example of architecture focused on guest accommodation during the flowering of modern directions.

The construction was probably built in the 1920s. At that time modern architectural trends developed in Czech countries. In the spa cities there was a specific construction for visitors. It was originally called Auge Gottes.

Architecturally, it's a wall-mounted one-story building with a Valb Mansard roof. Smooth facades end with a massive crown ledge. The main entrance with a hallway is located on the south front. The most prominent is the western part with five-axis risalite, balcony on the roof and polygonal arches on the ground floor. The main feature of the object is preserved cubist details, especially radially broken window fillings. For most of these windows the original fittings were preserved.

During its operation the house has undergone changes in its commercial functions. In the second half of the 20th century the building was modified and used as an administrative building.

In 2021, the building returned to its original role and is now again a spa guest house. Its value lies mainly in the authenticity of preserved architectural elements.

This monument represents an interesting example of architecture from the era of the flowering of modern styles. It is suitable for anyone who is interested in the details of cubism in the spa environment.

Welcome to Constantine Spa. Right now, you're standing in front of a building that tells its looks and history the story of the changes in this place. The Peace Spa House stands before you. When you look at it for the first time, you may perceive the calm and well-being that this object radiates, but you also feel the spirit of the time when it originated. It is a building that fits into the landscape naturally, yet it contains elements that distinguish it from other houses around it. Stop for a moment, take a breath and let your sight slowly pass all over the facade.

Let us now move back more than a hundred years in time. This building was built in the 1920s. Imagine the atmosphere of a spa town where people from different parts of the world gathered to seek health and rest. The house was built for these guests. At that time, however, today's name for Peace did not follow, but was known as the Eye of God. It was a space designed for accommodation, a place where visitors could afford luxury and quiet sleep near healing springs. Although today we do not know the names of the particular architects who proposed this project, it is clear that they have put many considerations and aesthetic feelings into the construction.

Now pay attention to the architecture itself, because this is where the rarest details are hidden. Look carefully at the windows. Notice their unusual design. You see the radiant layout of the window fillings? They are typical elements of cubism that provide a building with dynamism and unique character. It's very rare for such details to be preserved in such a state. If you come any closer, you will see that most windows have preserved the original fittings. They are small but fundamental traces of craft art from the beginning of the last century that survived decades of changes and repairs. It is these elements that make the House of Peace an architectural jewel that is worth exploring with attention.

However, the history of this house was not just about quiet guest accommodation. Like many other buildings in this area, this object has undergone a period of major changes. Around the year a thousand and nine hundred and fifty, his function changed. He stopped being a place of rest for passengers and became an administrative building. During this period he served as an administrative centre where official matters and management of the spa area were addressed. It's fascinating to think how the energy of this place has changed. Where there used to be voices of resting guests and rustling sheets in rooms, now there were typewriters and meetings of officials. The building thus lost its original soul to the inn in the middle of the century, but at the same time kept the memory of the administration of the entire complex.

Who could be in these walls in the past? Although we do not find specific names of famous personalities living here, we can imagine thousands of anonymous visitors looking for disease relief. Each of them saw the view from the windows of this house differently. For some, it was the beginning of a new life in good health, for others, a place of deep thought.

And now we come to the part that is most gratifying in history. After years of service as an office, the wheel of history turned. In the year two thousand twenty-one, the house of peace returned to its roots. Once again, it fulfills its original role as a spa guesthouse. It's basically going home. The building again hosts people who come to health, and it has become a place of peace and quiet. It's a beautiful story about how things can go back to their original destination if the building is valuable and loved enough.

The interesting thing that may interest you is the contrast between the original name of God's Eye and the current name of Peace. While the first name evokes vigilance, spiritual supervision and perhaps some mysticism, the current name expresses peace, harmony and internal balance. It is a symbolic mirror of how society changed and how we perceive rest and treatment. Today, when you look at the cubist details of the windows, you realize that these shapes were very modern at the time of their creation. Today we see them as nostalgic and elegant.

Imagine what secrets these walls can hide. How many letters from these rooms were written to the loved ones, how many hopes were placed here in treatment procedures and how many official decisions were made at the time of administrative use in these premises. The Peace Building is like an open book, where every layer of facade and every detail of fittings is one word from a long story about Constantine's Spa.

Now that you have learned of the journey of this house from God's eye to the administration building to today's guest house, I recommend you to see the building again. Try to imagine what she looked like in a thousand nine hundred twenty when she was new and radiant. Feel her stability and elegance. It is a place that survived the storm of the twentieth century and today offers you peace.

Thank you for spending time with us at the Peace House. We hope that you enjoyed this brief insight into the past and that these architectural details inspired you to further admire the beauty of this city. We now invite you to further explore the area. We wish you a pleasant rest of the day at Constantine Spa and enjoy every moment you spend in this magical environment. Goodbye.

Tips for visitors

The best time to visit is spring or autumn, when the colors of surrounding nature are in harmony with the architecture of a building from the 20th century. The building is available by car and public transport; Check the current connection in the search engine.

To visit we recommend to take comfortable shoes for walks around the spa area and a quality camera. Since there is an office and school in the building, we recommend keeping calm and respecting operating institutions.

For the best photos we recommend morning or late afternoon light to highlight the facade details. The most interesting views offer the surrounding streets and views from the outside on the overall shape of the object.

Families with children can appreciate walking around and telling about how the building served in the past to accommodate guests. Since there are no other specific sights in the area, we recommend focusing on the survey of the spa area itself.
