Lina Castle
The ruin of Lina, sometimes referred to as the Castle near Valče, represents one of the least explored monuments of the district of Louny. It is located about 1.5 kilometers northwest of Vroutek's Vroutek in its cadastral territory. Its surroundings are one of the protected areas - it is a natural monument to the Jalovka site over Vrbíčka.
The name "Lina" is not original - it was taken over by the German name "Lihna" from the name of the nearby sheepskin Hlána. On the first maps from the 1960s, the building appears as "Altes Schloss." The stable register of 1841 records it as property number 46 south of the pond. In František's mapping in 1842- 1852 he was already referred to as "Lina Ruine." The site was of scientific interest in the 19th century when František Alexander Heber described it in 1844. The county of Wencel Rott mentioned it. August Sedláček later named it Castle at Valce. In the second half of the 20th century, Libor Wettengl, Tomáš Durdík and Jiří Úlovka were involved.
The ruin has an approximately rectangular plan of 7.1 times 7.9 metres with a wall about 1.2 metres wide. The construction is made of quarry stone, from the inside you can see holes for scaffolding beams. Higher architectural details have not been preserved. Three relics of underglazed buildings were preserved in the neighbourhood and at the highest point the remains of an unfinished new-age sheepskin were preserved. The only favourable element is the field section on the front of the island, which may be the remnant of the wall, or it is an ordinary limit. The moat is missing.
The character of the object remains unclear. The layout and construction does not correspond to classical castles or hardness - rather it resembles a castle or a large courtyard. Written reports of the site have not been preserved. The surface collection found ceramics from the 14th and 15th centuries, which confirms medieval settlement, but the origin and purpose of the construction remain a question. Only archaeological research would reveal more.
The road leads the forest line from the Ořkov grove on the road between Nová Vsí and Valčí, the ruin is located above the pond to the right of the road. It's possible to get away from the sheepskin. Protected natural location and clarity of origin make this place attractive to curious travelers.
