Milíčov Farmstead
Milíčov is a location and area of the former economic court in Prague 11, in the cadastral territory of Háje. The history of the place dates back to the Middle Ages and today serves as a residence for artisanal establishments as well as for city police.
The location of Milíčov is bounded by the streets of Opatovská and Exhibition in the north, the ponds of Šáček, the Killer, Homolka and the boar on the east and south side, and the streets of K Milíčov and the Headed in the west. The name is associated not only with the farm itself, but also with Milíčov forest, a system of ponds with the dominant Milíčov pond and artificially created Milíčov hill. Originally, this area belonged to the Hostivar cadastral.
The origin of the name Milíčov is not quite clear, but it is probably based on the medieval name Milíč. The historical sources sometimes link it with Peter Milíčovc from Milíčova, who in the early 15th century acted as the Royal Purcraby Castle Most and died allegedly in 1416 in Animal Town near Rokycan. Elsewhere, however, this person is listed as Peter of Milicevs.
The name resembles the original visa or settlement Milíčov, which died in the early 18th century. The written record of 1727 states that all the inhabitants of the settlement, where there were two farm and two farm farms, died out. The settlement was part of a prowling estate and, after the demise of the population, its land was attached to the local court.
In 1773 Milíčov is written on the map of the Kouřim Region. The indication sketch from 1841 captures a court called Militschau on the southern edge of Hostivara. A little bit further south, in today's Milíčov orchard on the area of the Újezce u Prahonice, was the so-called bohmisch Militschau. In the 19th century there was an economic court and nearby the hunting grounds Milíčov, also called Czech Milíčov, which later disappeared.
In the 19th century, a castle was used for the building of the yard. However, this construction was not maintained; It was demolished and replaced by a new building in the early 20th century.
Act No. 114 / 1920 Coll. of 6 February 1920 explicitly mentions Milíčov as a settlement in establishing the merger of municipalities with Prague, with Hostivař connected without the settlements of Milichov and Háje. Since 1922, the economic court has become part of the municipality of Háje.
After 1948 the State Farm Milíčov worked on the premises. In 1951, the building went under the State Farm Xaverov, which until 1965 operated cattle and horses. Since 1968, the yard with the descriptive number 100 has been located in the local area and the cadastral area Háje in Prague.
He currently owns the Hlavní město Praha object. The premises of services, craft and construction are located in the area. The part of the court is used by the Prague City Police Department, which has a horse range on the south side of the building. In the immediate vicinity there is Zoopark Milíčov, rain settling tank DUN Milíčov and training ground for dogs. The western part of the location is today stopped by the settlement up to Exnárova Street.
Milíčov presents an interesting example of the transformation of the extinct medieval settlement in the modern multifunctional area. For visitors, the place is valuable as a link between urban Prague and the remains of the original economic landscape.

Milíčov is a locality on the southeastern edge of Prague, in the city district Praha 11 in the Háje neighborhood. To the north it is roughly bounded by Opatovská and Výstavní streets, to the east and south by the ponds Šáteček, Vrah, Homolka and Kančík, and to the west by K Milíčovu and Hlavatého streets. The name is borne by a former farmstead, the Milíčovský les forest, a system of ponds headed by the Milíčovský pond, and the artificially constructed Milíčovský vrch hill.
The origin of the name is unclear. It most likely derives from the medieval name Milíč. Sometimes it is connected with Petr Milíčovec from Milíčov, who was a royal castellan of Most castle at the beginning of the fifteenth century and reportedly died in 1416 in Zvíkov near Rokycany. Elsewhere, however, the Most castellan is listed as Petr from Miličevse.
The name recalls a vanished settlement of Milíčov. It is documented in writing only from 1727, when all its inhabitants had already died out. Two peasant farmsteads and two smallholder properties stood there. The settlement belonged to the Průhonice estate, and it was decided that it would not be resettled. The land fell to the local manorial farm.
Milíčov, in German Miltschau, appears on a map of the Kouřim region from 1773. An index sketch from 1841 shows the Militschau farmstead on the southern edge of Hostivař and a bit further south, in the location of today's Milíčovský sad orchard, a place called Český Milíčov. In the nineteenth century, a farmstead stood there, and nearby a hunting lodge, which later disappeared. The residential building of the farmstead was called the manor house. At the beginning of the twentieth century it was demolished and replaced by a new building.
The law of February sixth, nineteen twenty, on the merger of municipalities with Prague, explicitly states that Hostivař is joining without the settlements of Milíčov and Háje. From nineteen twenty-two, the farmstead thus belonged to the municipality of Háje. After nineteen forty-eight, the State Farm Milíčov operated here, and from nineteen fifty-one the State Farm Xaverov, which until nineteen sixty-five raised horses and cattle here. Since nineteen sixty-eight, the farmstead has been part of the Prague Háje.
Today, the farmstead is owned by the City of Prague. It houses service and craft businesses, a building supplies shop, and a mounted unit of the Prague Municipal Police, whose horses have paddocks south of the farmstead. To the west of the farmstead lies Zoopark Milíčov, to the east a rainwater settling tank and a dog training ground. The western part of the locality extending to Exnárova street is occupied by a housing estate.

For kids
The Milíčov Court was like a magical castle that was hiding in the middle of Prague. Until 1920 he belonged to the village of Hostivar, but today it is a place where children can have fun and learn much interesting.
It's like thousands of years ago, there were people living here who fed on agriculture and animal breeding. The pond that existed on today's Zoopark Milíčov was their refuge. And when the time came, the pond dried up and there was a yard where you can see cats, rabbits and other animals today.

Seasonal recommendations
Spring: In the spring months Milíčov comes to life together with nature around Háje. The light is fine and scattered at this time, which beautifully highlights fresh green vegetation and blooming ornamental trees. The atmosphere is calm and full of expectations. The best morning for a visit is when the air is the cleanest. We recommend you take lighter layers of clothing, because the morning cold can still feel, although the sun is already starting to warm.
Summer: The summer season brings intense sunlight to the farm and full of blooming vegetation. Shadows of old trees offer a pleasant refuge from the heat. There are more people here in the main summer season, which is why it is reasonable to arrive right after opening so that you can enjoy a quieter moment. Clothes should be light and breathable, also remember enough fluid and sun protection.
Autumn: Autumn visit offers an unmistakable atmosphere thanks to the golden and red shades of leaves surrounding historic buildings. Morning fog gives the place a mysterious and nostalgic touch. It is an ideal time for photography, especially at a time when the sun shines low above the horizon. However, it is necessary to prepare for colder and wetter weather, so choose waterproof shoes and warmer clothing.
Winter: During winter, Milíčov works with machines and monumental, especially if the landscape is covered with snow or frost. The day is short and light is very weak, which creates a melancholy but dignified impression. The number of visitors is the lowest in this period, which guarantees maximum privacy. Due to previous shear and lower temperatures, we recommend heavy winter jacket, gloves and planning a visit in the morning.
