Podorlický pivovar is a Renaissance building that was created by the reconstruction of the castle in the 16th century. It is located in the Králové Hradec Region in Rychnov nad Knežnou and is registered on the list of cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. The brewery is remarkable in its history and architecture.

The building of the brewery was built by rebuilding the Renaissance castle, which was built after 1578 by Christopher Elder Betengel of Neunperk. This castle was later rebuilt and in 1918 it was purchased by Jan Mikš from Kolowrat and modernized from the ground up. The brewery has become an important cultural monument and its building is today protected as a national cultural monument.

The architecture of the brewery building is characterized by Renaissance elements. The building is made of bricks and has a rich decoration. In the interior there is the original Renaissance crov and ceiling.

The owner of the brewery is the company Municipal Podorlický pivovar, which specializes in beer production. The brewery produces several types of beer, including Zilvar's bright lager, Chestnut's semi-lager and Kvardian's dark lager. Beer is served in many restaurants in the vicinity of Rychnov nad Knežnou and is also available in glass bottles in some wholesalers and local retailers.

The brewery is also known for its soda factory, which produces classic sodas, sodas and consumer syrups. The products of the soda factory include soda water, classic sodas, natural sodas Dobemila and consumable syrups.

Podorlický pivovar is remarkable by its history and architecture. It is a protected cultural monument and its building is a unique example of Renaissance architecture. If you want to learn more about beer history and production, visit the brewery and taste one of its types.

Welcome to Fast Over the Priest. You are standing in front of one of the most important building units in this region, in front of a historic brewery that carries the incredible depth of the centuries. Before you go any further, stop for a moment and feel the atmosphere of this place. Before your eyes, there is a building that is not just a simple production space, but a monumental testimony about the transformation of human destiny, the transition from noble noble life to the tireless work of craftsmen. This construction carries the weight of history, and its presence here in the area is extremely strong.

To understand why this building seems so dignified, we must go back deep into the past, to a time when beer has not yet been brewed, but when power and prestige have been built. Imagine the year fifteen hundred seventy-eight. At that time there was no brewery as we know it today, but there was a Renaissance castle. Its construction was started by Christopher the Elder Betengel of Neunperk. This man has laid the foundations for what you see today. Imagine the world back then, the world of nobility, chivalry, and the building of fixed mansions that were meant to reflect the status of their owners. This castle was designed as a symbol of stability and elegance, and although its function has changed radically over the centuries, its original Renaissance soul still radiates in every corner.

Now pay attention to the architecture of the building that surrounds you. Notice how the entire building is removed from the bricks. This material essence gives it a robust, firm and very characteristic face. Although time is relentlessly rushing forward, the rich decoration you can see on the facade reminds us that this building was not built to serve practical purposes but to be beautiful. This richness of detail is a reference to her castle past. If you choose to enter the inner space, prepare to meet the real architectural treasure. In the interior there is still the original Renaissance crov and ceiling. These wooden structures are a fascinating link between the time when the nobles lived here and the time when the beer started to boil here. It's like you're touching the roots of history.

The history of this place is closely linked to the specific people whose decisions shaped the current form of this brewery. For a long time, this complex was in the hands of a significant noble family of Kolowrat. However, the year one thousand nine hundred and eighteen brought a major break which changed the direction of the whole place. In this year he bought the castle and subsequently the whole complex of brews Jan Mikš. That was when the modern form of the brewery began to form from the noble residence. Jan Mikš wasn't just the owner, he was a man with vision and energy. He decided to modernise the space and redesign it so that it could fulfil its new but equally important role. Thanks to his efforts and investments, the Renaissance castle became a functional and modern facility that allowed brewing to flourish in this part of the country. It is thanks to him that this object has become a place where tradition meets modern production.

You may now wonder how it is that such an important building survived all the storms of modern history and remained in such good condition. The answer lies in its extraordinary value, which was recognised much later. In the year one thousand nine hundred and ninety, this building was entered on the list of cultural monuments of the Czech Republic, even as a national cultural monument. This underlines that this is not only a building that produces several kinds of beer, but an inviolable piece of our common identity. There is something mysterious about how two so different worlds intersect in these walls - the world of Renaissance nobility and the world of a working craftsman. Every brick and beam in the roof can hide the stories of the people who lived here, worked and dreamed. It's like a constant dialogue between the past and the present that you can see every step of the way.

But now I won't keep you in one place any longer. I suggest you continue your search and be carried away by the atmosphere of this place. Feel the smell of history floating around, and look at the details that architecture offers you. Perhaps you can find a hidden detail that will remain in your memory for years. I wish you a pleasant continuation in discovering the beauty of the Priest and I hope that you will be as excited to visit this brewery as we are.

Seasonal recommendations

Spring brings fresh energy and awakening nature around the brewery. The fine sunlight begins to penetrate into historical spaces at a pleasant angle, creating a calm and optimistic atmosphere. The ideal is to prepare layered clothes because the weather can still be variable. In this period the visit is very pleasant thanks to the smaller number of people and the possibility to perceive the first green people around the building.

Summer months are characterized by the longest days and the greatest interest of visitors. The sun highlights the structure of the old walls and there is a lively summer atmosphere in the surroundings. Due to increased excitement, we recommend arriving immediately after opening to avoid the biggest crowds. Clothes should be light and summer, also remember to protect against the sun and plenty of fluids while walking.

The autumn surrounding the brewery creates a nostalgic and deep atmosphere that perfectly complements the historical character of the monument. Color leaves and occasional morning fog offer excellent conditions for photography. It is advisable to carry with you a warmer jacket and solid shoes that can handle wet surfaces. The best time for a tour is in the morning or at the time when the sun shines the lowest, which highlights the colors of the autumn landscape.

The winter makes the building very quiet and somewhat mysterious, especially in cold days or in snow. The light is weaker in this period and the days are short, which gives the place a cozy but shielded look. To visit it is absolutely necessary to have very warm clothes and quality shoes. Check the current opening hours before arrival, which are usually shorter in advent time and during freezing months.
