Povrchové doly na zlato in Hartmanice are archaeological sites in the cadastral territory of Hartmanice I and Hartmanice II in the Klatovy district. This cultural monument of the Czech Republic is located in the natural reserve Hamišná and represents the remains of medieval gold mining.

The first written mention of gold mining in Hartmanice dates back to 1340. During this period, when the Czechs were part of the Luxembourg monarchy, they were entitled to gold mining Rožmberkové.

The location is located on the side of the Hališná mountain in a coniferous forest, west of road II / 190 connecting Hartmanice with Good Water. The extent of the site is approximately 1.5 km in length and places up to 500 m in width. The remains of mining are manifested as areas covered by drains and overgrown pins, which can reach a depth of up to three metres. In the field there are also observed irregular ditches resulting from monitoring of the gold vein.

The history of the place is complemented by a folk reputation, according to which the Hamišný mountain was named after greed. He tells of a poor miner, given to him by the Permonist, to allow him to gain gold, and of the envious owner of the mine, who was turned into a lump of gold by the Permonant Treste for his greed. In addition to the mining tracks, there are also grinding stones for grinding gold ore.

Today, the location is accessible through the Hamišná Educational Circular. This trail is approximately three kilometres long and leads a nature reserve. It starts in Hartmanice in a place called the Protector's Corner and leads around the chapel, the prospect of even the top of Hamišná Mountain. Information boards with data on natural and historical aspects are available on the trail.

This monument offers an authentic view of medieval mining works and their influence on the landscape. It is suitable for all people interested in history and nature.

Welcome to the historic location of surface mines for gold in the village Hartmanice. You are standing right in front of a vast area with irregular, deep moats that indicate long-term gold mining. This scene may remind you of an ancient map full of web lines and narrow paths that led to the heart of ancient wealth.

The history of these mines dates back to the 14th century when they first mentioned it in writing in 1340. The right to gold mining was given to Rožmberkové, a powerful and influential family known for its ability to influence both political and economic events at that time. This locality is located in the Habitat Nature Reserve, which adds another layer to its nature, not only historical but also natural sciences.

Look around and notice these old moats that have been carved into the soil. These industrial slit structures are proof of the many years' work of people who have tried to reach the gold hidden beneath the surface. Although we are not able to identify precisely the architecture of these works - because their creators remained anonymous - you could imagine how the miners plunged into the depths of the earth in hopes of finding valuable metal.

Among the key figures associated with this place are Rožmberkové, whose decisions influenced not only the economy of the region, but also its history. Their influence was so significant that sometimes it seemed like this whole area was part of their property.

An interesting story is the story of a poor miner whose reputation told him that he had been blessed with a Dopaj perm. This spirit allowed him to take gold for his own use and thus overcome the usual difficulties associated with mining. The story of this permon gives the place a certain legendary boom that can interest you and make you think deeply about what was once possible.

Now that you've looked at this historical complex, we're going to invite you to explore again. Let your spirit float freely between the shadows of the old moat and easily imagine the lives of those who once worked here. Whether you decide to explore other parts of the reservation Hlamic or just relax for a while and listen to natural sounds, Hartmanice has much to offer.

Thank you for your visit to these surface mines to gold. We hope you enjoyed your stay here and remember your journey here with a friendly smile. When you come back to us, we will be glad if you look at other attractions offered by the region. Goodbye!
