The statue of St. John Nepomuk in the garden of house No. 38 on Sehnoutkov Street in Černožice is a baroque sandstone statue of life size dating back to 1712. This monument has been protected as a cultural heritage of the Czech Republic since 23 November 1994 and has registration of the ÚSKP number 51130 / 6-5825. Saint Jan Nepomucký, known for his important role in the spiritual life of the Czech Republic in the first half of the 18th century, is depicted in Canovnik's garment with a biret and holds both crucifix and palm branch.

The creation of the statue is related to the period of the flowering of Baroque art in Bohemia, when this style was reflected in construction, painting and sculpture. The key were emotional expression and dramatic movement. The statue of St. John Nepomuk is an example of folk baroque work that appeared in many Czech municipalities of the time. Originally, the statue was placed in another place in Chernožice and transferred to the current garden in 1930.

Architecturally, the statue is built on a prism pedestal with a profiled plinth and a robust ledge. Sokl has oblong, slightly embedded fields with roughly trimmed surface. There is a small niche in the front wall with a semicircular enchantment and inscription written by period Czech, which tells of the holiness of John Nepomuk. The statue itself is made of sandstone and represents a saint with bent right foot, which gives the character dynamic.

The history of the statue did not notice dramatic changes in ownership, but moving it from its original place to the current garden of 1930 is a key event. This step could have been motivated by modifications to land use or protection of the monument from damage.

Today, the statue of St. John Nepomuk stands as a symbolic element of Czech cultural and spiritual history. Its location in the garden of the house on Sehnutkov Street makes it accessible to visitors who are interested in Baroque sculpture and spiritual history of Bohemia. The statue is not only a monument to artistic importance, but also a testament to local traditions and culture.

Visiting this statue offers an opportunity to explore Baroque art in its context and to appreciate the historical importance it has for the region of Chernožice. It is not only a monument to the past, but also an inspiration to understand the cultural heritage that shaped the region.

Welcome to this place full of history and mystery, which is also an inheritance and inspiration for anyone who stops and looks closer. You are standing in front of the Baroque sandstone statue of St. John Nepomuk, who greets you with a calm smile and deeply set eyes. This saint, known for his bravery and devotion to the secret of the last anointing, is depicted here on a stone plinth. Notice the traditional canoeing robes with a biret on his head, which he is dressed in, and in his hands there is a crucifix and palm branch - symbols of his holiness. A halo is spread over the head, reminding us of divine celebrations.

Let's dive into the history of this monument. The statue was created in 1712, which is evidenced by the inscription from 9 July this year. It was originally located in a different place in Chernožice than it was transferred to the garden of the house in 1930 with the number of descriptive 38, where we see it today. This monument is protected as a cultural heritage of the Czech Republic since 1994 and has registration of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments of the Czech Republic under the number 51130 / 6-5825.

Now pay attention to details that you can remember. Look up at the inscription in the scroll, which is part of the plinth of the statue - this place was once used to explain the origin and meaning of the monument. How to notice the fine work of the artist who revived this statue? Even though their name is unknown, they left us a magnificent reminder of the baroque era, full of symbolism and emotion.

Although specific historical figures associated with this monument are not known, the statue itself tells the story of faith and courage. Saint Jan Nepomucký is known for his defense of the secret of the last anointing, which eventually cost him his life. His character symbolizes the struggle for free will and spiritual integrity.

The interesting thing is that despite several centuries, the statue has remained saved and is still in a place where it can be appreciated. It is a testimony of the care and respect of the community towards its cultural heritage.

The invitation is to explore the surrounding area of Černožice, where there may be other historical and natural beauty. Every stone and every section of the road has its own story waiting to be discovered.

I hope this visitor has become an interesting experience for you and recalled how rich history and culture are. Goodbye and remember this place, which tells us so much about the past and the present.
