The castle in Soutice in the Benešov district was created in the second half of the 17th century on the site of an older stronghold. Today it is protected as a cultural monument and at the same time ranks among endangered monuments. It is in private ownership and is undergoing reconstruction.
The Soutice estate was purchased in 1694 from the Obyteckýs of Obytec by the free baron Ferdinand Antonín Mladota of Solopiska. He devoted himself to alchemy and in 1724 he bought a house in Prague's Karlovo náměstí square, which is known today as Faust's House. After his death, the property passed to his son František Michael. However, he entered the Jesuit order, and the entire estate was thus acquired by the Jesuits. The order sold it to František's mother, Maria Magdalena, and his sisters.
Soutice fell to one of the sisters, Maria Anna. Because of debts, however, it ended up in an auction and passed to another sister, Zuzana Františka, and her husband Josef František Puteani, who came from a northern Italian family. Their son, Baron František Antonín Puteani, founded a school in the castle in 1780, where agricultural officials were trained.
