The settlement no. 2 in the village Dolany in the district of Pilsen-North is a classical agricultural building from the first half of the 19th century. The object is a remarkable rare combination of stone barn and other economic elements, making it a unique example of the architecture at the time. Since 3 May 1958 the estate has been protected as a cultural monument.

It originated in the first half of the 19th century, in the period of industrial revolution and modernisation of agriculture. Classicism reflected the ideals of balance and symmetry, which is also evident in the implementation of this construction. The estate is located in the centre of the village Dolany and represents a well preserved sample of rural classicism.

The architecture of the estate is defined by a brick barn with a rectangular ground plan and a saddle roof, which is complemented by wooden tributaries with shields. The gallows with horizontal translation and two-wing doors give the farm a unique character. The granary also contributes to the overall impression at the gate, although its historical value has been reduced by inappropriate coating of the facade.

The history of ownership and management of the estate is not fully documented. However, the entry into the list of cultural monuments in 1958 confirms its historical and cultural value. This step ensured the protection of the building from modifications or demolitions which could damage its architectural integrity.

The monument is now well preserved and accessible to visitors. Its uniqueness lies in a rare view of the 19th century agricultural background with a stone barn, which was unusual for Czech rural areas at the time. The visit allows you to learn about historical aspects of management and architecture, which is valuable for historians and tourists.

The estate No. 2 in Dolany is not only a monument but also a witness to changes in rural life. Its protection and regular maintenance are key to preserving the region's cultural heritage. The walk around the estate encourages the discovery of history and architecture, which at first glance seems to be common, but on closer examination reveals the wealth of the past.

Welcome to the Dolans, near a beautiful place, which is a great example of 19th century rural architecture. You are standing in front of the settlement No. 2, one of the oldest and most characteristic objects in this district. Take a look up at the wall barn with its rectangular plan and saddle roof, which is supplemented by wooden ports with shields. This visual impression will immediately lead you to the past, when this place was at the heart of rural life.

The estate No. 2 developed in the first half of the 19th century and is an example of the classical architecture of the time. Although there are no known specific personalities behind its creation, we know that it served as an agricultural house providing space for life and work. In 1958, the estate was recognised as a cultural monument, confirming its historical and aesthetic value.

Take a closer look at the architectural elements that make this monument unique. Note the wall barn with rectangular ground plan and saddle roof, supplemented with wooden ports with shields. The Jeweled Gate with two-wing doors and a granary with it are other characteristic elements of this object, which supply a whole of harmony and functionality.

Although specific historical figures associated with this settlement are not known, its architecture itself tells the story of the time when the rural environment was closely linked to agricultural needs. Each element of this building bears traces of generations past that have lived and worked here.

The interesting thing is that even though there are no architects, their work persists as a testament to period technology and art. Article 2 shows us how agricultural traditions have been preserved over the years and what has been important for people living in the countryside.

Now you can move around the object and look at the other angles. Every detail can tell you its story, so have it examined with an open mind. This estate is really a living museum of rural life.

Thank you for your visit and we hope that this historical object inspired you to explore further the surrounding monuments. Let you find even more stories from the past during your stay in the Dolans!

Tips for visitors

For the best experiences we recommend a visit in the spring or autumn period, when the rural environment is the most beautiful and light for the observation of architecture.

You can use your own vehicle or public transport to transport to the place; Please check the current connection in the traffic controller. It is advisable to carry comfortable shoes to move around.

If you want to focus on photography, focus on details of the wall barn and the classicist elements of the gate. The best light to capture the texture of bricks and the shape of the building is obtained during the morning hours or just before sunset, when the shadows are softer and the colors are warmer.

For families with children, a tour of these historic buildings is an interesting opportunity to observe the older way of agriculture and architecture in nature. We recommend you bring a drink and suitable clothes for a country walk.
