Nepomyšl Chateau is an enchanting Renaissance chateau situated in the village of Nepomyšl, within the Louny District of Ústecký kraj, Czech Republic. Originally constructed as a Gothic fortress in the early 14th century, it transformed significantly into its current form by the late 16th century. Declared a cultural monument in 1964, the chateau is notable for its polygonal layout and rich history of ownership changes among prominent families such as the Šlik and Ditrichštejn families.

The origins of Nepomyšl Chateau date back to the early 14th century when it was built as a Gothic fortress. The first documented owner was Petr z Janovic, who held it between 1361 and 1370. Ownership changed rapidly in the first quarter of the 15th century among various nobles such as Eliška Koldicová z Dubé and Ctibor Čepec z Libiše. By the early 16th century, Alexander z Leisneku owned it, followed by his brother Huk. The Šlik family acquired it in 1539 through Amabilie ze Šliků's sale to Albín Šlik z Holíče. After a series of inheritances and sales within the Šlik family, Eliška Šliková sold her share to Jindřich z Gutštejna in 1571.

Architecturally, Nepomyšl Chateau evolved from its original Gothic fortress form into a Renaissance structure by the late 16th century. The chateau's polygonal layout and courtyard were established during this period, with further modifications in Baroque and Classical styles that included adding wings and filling spaces near the gatehouse. The building features vaulted ceilings in its basement, along with several preserved Gothic portals and various types of arches within.

Throughout its history, Nepomyšl Chateau has seen numerous owners who dramatically influenced its fortunes. After the Šlik family, it was owned by the ze Štampachu brothers in 1589, followed by Kryštof Abraham ze Štampachu, who participated in the Bohemian Revolt of 1618-1620 and subsequently lost his estate due to confiscation. Heřman z Questenberka acquired it in 1621 for 8,000 kop míšeňských and later integrated additional estates into its holdings. The Ditrichštejn family maintained ownership until 1895 when Josef z Herberštejna inherited it, with his lineage holding the chateau until 1945. Afterward, it became part of a state estate before being declared for demolition in 1989. Fortunately, it was not destroyed and underwent restoration starting in 2012.
