Boží muka (Cikháj) Wayside shrine

The torment of God in Cikkahran, located on the road towards Svěnov and Zdar nad Sázavou, is a baroque monument from the beginning of the 18th century built in the honor of the most holy Virgin of God. This cultural monument, declared in 1958, represents an important example of baroque art and architecture at the time. Her history is remarkable not only by its beauty, but also by the dramatic events that have befallen her.

The creation of God's torture in 1713 was related to a baroque cult, which manifested itself in Bohemia with a rich artistic and architectural heritage. This monument was built according to the inscription on the plinth by the stonemason P.P. Freedom from Nejdek, who also created similar works elsewhere. The Baroque period was demonstrated by rich decorative art and architecture, which is also evident in this monument.

Architecturally, God's torture in Cikkahra represents a typical baroque style. Originally made of granite and white marble, which highlighted its rich decoration. The Sokl is decorated with diamond brass, the blade of the pillar bounded by a stone ring in both the lower and the upper part. The head is decorated with corner voltages with drapes and a roset on top, underneath which is a chapel with shallow, half-circle ends with nobodies. The chapel is covered with a prism canopy, which was currently fitted with a double-arm cross.

The history of God's torment in the Cikkah is full of dramatic events. In 1965, this monument was defeated and destroyed during a car accident, which led to its depository. After the decision of the zigzag representatives in 2004 on the restoration of the torture of God, the reconstruction was carried out by sculptor and restorer Martin Kovařík, grandson of the painter Rudolf Hanych. However, some parts were not preserved, which required a copy of the warhead to be made. In November 2005, God's torment was erected in its original place.

Today this monument is available again for visitors who want to learn more about Baroque architecture and the history of the region. Its renewal represents a successful combination of tradition and modern restaurant techniques, which makes it an important cultural monument not only for local residents but also for tourists.
