The railway station Bruntál is a hub in the northeast part of the city Bruntál in the Moravian-Silesian Region. It connects the unelectrified tracks Olomouc-Opava and Bruntál-Little Morávka. The building was founded in the second half of the 19th century and is important in its historical architecture and strategic location near Černý porok.

The station was built by Moravian-Silesian Central Railway primarily for the Olomouc and Opava connections. The first section of the route from Krnova to Opava West was launched on 1 November 1872. Later, on May 31, 1901, the Empress-Royal State Railways company opened a turn towards Mala Morávka.

The original building was built according to the universal construction pattern. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a new luxury shipping building was built on the north side of the complex. The current form includes four one-sided open platforms with crossings across the track. Total repairs of the railway station were completed in 2015.

Historically, the station was called Freudenthal. The name Freudenthal i. Österreichisch Schlesien was used between 1914 and 1918, then the Czech name Bruntál was introduced. The exception was the period 1938 to 1945 when the object was again called Freudenthal (Altvater).

In 1988 there was modernization of the technology and activation of the TEST C station relay protection equipment with dependent structures. The specific operation was the long-term interruption of passenger transport to the connection with Malá Moravka between 2009 and 2019.

The station is currently part of the ODIS system and is operated by Esko S10 and R27 lines. Trains from Bruntál go to cities such as Krnov, Malá Morávka, Moravian Beroun, Olomouc, Opava, Ostrava or Rýmařov.

The railway station Bruntál is an important technical and architectural unit of the region. Her visit offers a view of the development of railway transport in the Moravian-Silesian Region.

Welcome to Bruntále, a place full of history and beauty that is reflected not only in its streets but also in its railway station. You're standing in front of a building whose weight tells stories of the past and the present. This station is the key to understanding how the local community developed and interconnected with the surrounding areas.

The establishment of the Bruntál stations dates back to the second half of the 19th century, when it was built as part of the wider efforts of the Moravian-Silesian Central Railway to develop the railway network in the region. The station became an important kiosk on the tracks connecting Olomouc, Opava and Little Moravka. This has enabled better connection and rapid transfer of goods and people.

Let's take a closer look at the architectural elements of this building. At first glance, you may find its representative appearance, which was given by a new shipping building built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. This part is full of historical charm, although the particular details of architecture remain unknown. However, you can see the elegant lines and robustness that indicate her task as an important transport hub.

Although particular historical figures associated with this station remain unknown, there is no doubt that many people have passed through it and their lives have intertwined through it. Every train that has arrived here has brought its own story - from passenger workers to workers to families to visit.

The historical name of the station is interesting. Originally known as Freudenthal, she changed her name depending on political changes - from Freudenthal to Bruntál and back to Freudenthal during 1938 to 1945. This illustrative example shows how history can affect the names of our places.

Now that you've seen this memory, we invite you to continue your Bruntál survey. The city offers many other historical and cultural gems that await discovery. Whether you choose to walk the ancient streets or to visit other local monuments, Bruntál will certainly surprise you with its rich history and an interesting character. Thank you for your visit and we hope you will return with new experiences and memories of this beautiful city.

Seasonal recommendations

Spring: In the spring, Bruntál wakes up and the surrounding nature begins to green quickly. Light is soft in this period and very pleasant for the observation of architecture. The atmosphere is fresh and full of new energy. I recommend wearing layered clothes because the weather can be variable, from freezing hours to warm afternoons. It's a great time to visit, because hikers are getting smaller.

Summer: In the summer months there is the most sunny weather and days are longest throughout the year. Green trees and parks create a pleasant shade, but the air can be hot. In the main summer season I recommend you come early in the morning to avoid the biggest crowds and the highest heat. Prepare light clothes and don't forget enough water.

Autumn: Autumn brings a rich palette of gold and brown colors to Bruntál. The morning mist often gives the place a melancholy and mysterious atmosphere. Light is low in this period, which is ideal for photography. It is advisable to carry a waterproof jacket and high-quality footwear, as the roads may be wet. It's a very quiet time for quiet walks.

Winter: Winter is quiet and cold in Bruntál, and when snow comes, the city looks very magical. The days are short and darkness falls very soon. It is absolutely essential to have very warm clothes for a visit, including hats and gloves. In advent time the atmosphere is magical, but it is good to check the availability of all places in advance due to shorter opening times.
