The building of the former Workers' Injuries Insurance Company for Moravia and Silesia, located in Brno at the address Koliště no. 43, is a historical monument located in the area of the Brno Hospital. In 1912-1913 it was built as a seat of an insurance company and stands out with a simple and monumental design that combines classical elements with modern Art Nouveau influences. Today it is partly used as an experience hostel.

The creation of this building was motivated by the need to provide suitable headquarters for the Workers' Insurance Office for Moravia and Silesia. After two failed attempts at location in the historical heart of Brno, the construction was finally built on a site known today as Koliště No. 43. Construction project was led by builder Josef Fiala in cooperation with architect Bohumir Čermák, whose design won the competition for the design of the facade and interior. The competition was considered patriotic, which allowed only architects with Moravian or Silesian roots to participate.

The building is an example of a combination of classical and post-secession elements. The facade, covered with a light plaster of Terranov, is decorated with a figurative feature from sculptor Alfred Dressler, who created six professions - farmers, blacksmiths, miners, masons, factory worker and designer. The interior is characterized by simple monumentality without excess, which corresponds to the human purpose of the building. The lobby and staircases are decorated with Belgian blue marble and decorative painting.

After completion in 1913 the building was not only the seat of the insurance company, but later became part of an accident hospital. In the years 1930-1931 the complex was expanded to include a new building of the first insurance company in Czechoslovakia, which was connected to the original official building. In 2021, the building was once again declared a cultural monument under the register of the SAR 106741.

Today, this historic building is not only an important architectural contribution, but also a functional part of the trauma hospital. Its unique design and rich history make it an important monument worth visiting.
