Cejpův dům, also known as Ceip's Palace, is an important historical and architectural monument located on the corner of Little Square and Long street in Hradec Kralove. It is one of the few preserved Renaissance buildings in the city, highlighting its cultural value. The building was built on a land that was already defined in the 14th century and the first part of the masonry from the 15th century.

The foundation of the palace is closely connected with the transition from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, the period in Bohemia characterized by cultural and political changes. The Renaissance architecture and art developed in Europe, which reflects Cejpův dům. Originally, the building was founded in the 15th century as a simple building with a circumferential wall and a north track. In the 16th century, the land was taken into the hands of Martin Cejp of Peclinovka, who decided to build a Renaissance family palace. This process was started in 1571, when a major reconstruction and extension of the original construction took place, which is evidenced by the number visible on one of the window portals.

Architecturally, Ceip's palace is significant in its Renaissance structure. The original building was rebuilt and expanded in the 16th century, which included an increase by the second floor. During the years there have been further modifications, especially following fires in 1747 and 1762, which affected the building during the ownership of Inocence Švenda. In the 19th century, the Renaissance facade was partially modified in a classical way and in 1818 a gate was built into the yard, reflecting the needs of the time. Further modifications took place after the fires and for school needs, the layout of the building in 1902 was adapted to the present form.

The history of ownership of the palace is rich in change. After the death of Martin Cejp of Peclinov in 1599, the house remained in the possession of his family until 1667 / 1668 when it was sold to Jan Coenens for debts. After several other transfers the owner became Anna Cejpová, which in 1744 sold the house to Inocenci Švend. In 1763 the palace was bought by František a Klára Švendovi, but already the following year they sold it to Jan N. Kříža. After several further changes of owners, the house became the property of the city for the regional office in 1792.

Ceip's palace witnessed key events such as the fundamental reconstruction and expansion of the building in 1571. Two fires in 1747 and 1762 had a significant impact on the construction. In 1818, a gate to the court was built, reflecting the needs of the time. The building served various purposes, from the Regional Office to the courts and schools, making it an important part of urban infrastructure.

Today, the palace is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic and its historical significance and architectural value make it an interesting destination for visitors. The building is open to the public, which allows it to discover its rich history and architecture. It is a testament to the history of Hradec Králové and an important monument to the important personalities of the city.

Ceip Palace is not only an architectural pearl, but also a lively reminder of the history and culture of Hradec Kralove. His visit offers a unique view of the city's past and its development. It is a place that is worth exploring by anyone who is interested in the history or architecture of the Czech Republic.

Welcome to the heart of our city, Hradec Kralove. Right now you're standing in a place where time has stopped and where the daily movement of people in the streets meets the silent nobility of history. Look around you. You are on the corner of Little Square and Long Street. Right here, right in front of your eyes, is a building that is not just an ordinary house, but a real palace. Cejpův dům, as we call it, is one of those rare objects that reminds us of how rich and rich the past of this city was. Feel the atmosphere, the weight of the stones and the dignity this building emits. It's a place that deserves your full attention.

In order to understand why this building is so special, we need to travel deep into the past with you. This land that you're standing on right now has a history very far from history. As early as the 14th century, this area was clearly intended for construction and was part of a growing city. Imagine the first steps of the people who built the basic structure of this place here. The first parts of the walls that form the very foundation and skeleton of this house come from the fourteenth century, namely the fourteenth century, not the fifteenth century. So this building has layers that have been laying over each other for centuries. Each layer is a different era, a different lifestyle, and a different need for the people back then.

But the biggest break and the greatest boom came in fifteen hundred seventy-one. This year there was a major reconstruction and an extensive extension of the original building. That was the moment when the simple dwelling became a real palace. Imagine the work, the energy, and the resources that had to be spent at that time to create something so impressive from the original work. This reconstruction was key to what the building looks like today. That's when she got her character, which you felt for hundreds of years.

Now pay attention to the very form of this building. Although we have failed to preserve the names of the particular architects who led this magnificent project from time to time in the books, their art is clearly visible here. Cejpův dům is one of the few preserved Renaissance buildings you can see in Hradec Králové. Renaissance was a time when people became interested in beauty, symmetry and harmony again. When you look at the facade of this palace, try to perceive the balance and the pursuit of perfection that the Renaissance style has brought. It's a style that celebrates man and his ability to create things that are both beautiful and functional.

Notice how the building adapts to its location on the corner of two important roads. This position gives her special strength and importance. And if you look towards the courtyard, you can see the gate that was added much later, until eight hundred and eighteen in the year. This gate is an interesting link between the old Renaissance spirit and the newer times, showing us how the building was constantly changing and adapting to the new needs of urban life.

Every house has its stories and every wall has its secret witnesses. Ceip's palace was not just an empty box, but a home for the important characters that shaped our city. Pay attention to the names associated with this place. One of the most important men was Martin Cejp z Peclinovce. His name is deep in the history of this house. There were also people like Jan Coenensov or Tomáš Braun. They were the people who had their place in this town and who left their trail.

We must not forget the women's faces and other family stories that played their parts here. Anna Cejpová, Inocencia Švenda, František a Klára Švendovi, Jan N. Kříž and also Kristian Stefan. Each of these names represents a different era, a different life story that took place behind these walls. Imagine their voices, their footsteps in these halls, their joy and their sadness. This building is like an open book where every chapter belongs to someone else, but they all connect in this one place.

He may now ask you what is the greatest secret in this place or what can really interest you. Is this some sort of secret passage or treasure? The truth is, the greatest miracle is that this building is still standing. In a city that has undergone so many reconstructions, wars and changes, Cejpův dům is one of the few true Renaissance objects that remain in such good condition. It's like living proof of the continuity of time. The incredible ability to survive from the fifteenth century to today, while retaining her dignity and her significant appearance, is something that should fascinate you. It's evidence of human art and an attempt to build things that are supposed to take a lot longer than the length of one human life.

Now that you know more about Ceip's house and when you've realized its depth and meaning, I invite you to continue your next walk. Let the atmosphere of Hradec Kralove drift. Look at the other corners of our city, look up at the rooftops of old houses and look at the windows that tell you their own stories. Every building you meet has its own soul. Thank you for your attention and I wish you a wonderful rest of the day to discover all the secrets that are hidden in our city. Goodbye.
