Dolní Lázně in Bechyni, also known as Panská Lázeň or Staré Lázně, is a historic site located in the town of Bechyne within the Jihočeský kraj region. Established in 1324 by Oldřich Pluh z Rabštejna, this noble bathhouse has been recognized for its cultural significance and is listed as a protected monument in the Central List of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic. The site stands out not only for its historical roots but also for its architectural evolution from Renaissance to Baroque styles with Classical modifications.

The origins of Dolní Lázně date back to 1324 when Oldřich Pluh z Rabštejna, a prominent figure who served as the royal under-chamberlain to King John of Luxembourg, founded Bechyne and constructed the bathhouse. The site was strategically placed on the banks of the Lužnice River, reflecting its importance in medieval urban planning. By 1340, ownership transferred to the Šternberkové family after acquisition from King John, marking a significant shift in the property's history.

Architecturally, Dolní Lázně is notable for its blend of styles. The complex began as a noble bathhouse with Renaissance elements and evolved into a predominantly Baroque structure over time. It features an open pavilion with Doric columns, indicative of Classical influences. Original plank vaults are preserved in certain areas like the passageway leading to the courtyard and the stables, while upper rooms boast flat ceilings. The building once had the largest roof area covered by Bechyňský háky, a unique roofing material produced locally.

Ownership of Dolní Lázně has seen several transitions throughout its history. After the Šternberkové family acquired it in 1340, Petr Vok z Rožmberka granted municipal privileges to Bechyne in 1594 and donated the bathhouse with specific conditions regarding beer sales. In 1737, ownership passed to Josef Bartles, followed by Matěj Mašek two years later. The site continued to change hands until it was owned by Václav Janko in 1904, who played a significant role in local hospitality and industry. His son subsequently established an electrical repair business there. From 1949, the property belonged to Josef Hruška, with his family maintaining ownership into the 21st century.

Throughout its history, Dolní Lázně has been a focal point for various social activities. In 1859, bath cabins were restored but burned down in 1863, leading to the establishment of a garden on the site. By the 19th century, it served as a hub for local fire brigades and Sokol movement activities, with the first joint exercises held at the location in 1893.

Today, Dolní Lázně is part of Bechyne's historic town center, situated near the Lužnice River. The site has been transformed into a ceramic workshop with a shop, offering visitors a glimpse into both its historical significance and contemporary use. Its inclusion in Bechyne’s protected urban zone underscores its importance as a cultural landmark.
