Dříň is today part of the Kladno district of Dubí. In the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries, an independent village stood here, which was located between Kladno and Buštěhrad. The lords of Dříň came from here. In the middle of the fifteenth century, however, the village disappeared.
New life came here only in the seventeenth century. At the beginning of it, a manor court was restored, and by the end of the same century, the village itself was reestablished. New inhabitants came from the Zákupy estate near České Lípy and they were apparently mostly Germans.
However, the village began to grow more noticeably only from the second half of the nineteenth century, when mining and metallurgy developed in the surrounding area. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Dříň was connected with the neighboring villages of Újezd pod Kladnem and Dubí. After the Second World War, this trio was permanently incorporated into Kladno.
The industrial past left its mark here even in later times. Between 1977 and 1989, a new electric steel mill Poldi Kladno grew here. In the nineties, however, the company got into serious debt, and in July 1995, production was stopped, allegedly due to lack of orders.
Dříň also found a place in music. Singer Radůza mentioned it in a lullaby Na Dříň, which she included on the album Miluju vás.
