Dům čp. 403 House

Town House No. 403 in Javorník is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. It is located on the street of Peace and is a part of the town monument zone. Its history dates back to the 14th century, when it originated as part of a medieval development. The object is remarkable by its architectural developments and events that have affected its appearance. Today it is an empire four-story, four-story, one-story building with atics and a saddle roof.

The construction was built around 1373 when it was first mentioned. Over the years, it has undergone several phases of reconstruction and modification. In 1428 it was damaged during the Hussite conquest, which was one of the many disasters the building faced. The fires in 1576 and 1603 contributed to its destruction, as well as the flood in 1825, which destroyed 104 houses in Javorník. In the second half of the 19th century, a new Empire house was built on the original core, which defines the current form of the building.

Architecturally, House No. 403 is characterized as an empire building with several important elements. The street facade on the ground floor is divided by the belt rustic and cordon ledge, which separates the ground floor from the first floor. In the second axis there is a right-angle entrance with profile shamrans. The windows on the first floor are also in shambles and have a continuous post-date ledge. Above them are straight moldings on volute consoles decorated with shells, acantos and bell flowers. The atician floor has two extreme blind windows with shamrans and a post-term ledge; the whole is closed with a triangular shield with a small semi-circular eye.

The history of ownership is also interesting. In 1945, the building belonged to the tailoring master Rudolf Frank, which confirms its function of living and working space. The 1998 modifications included changes in the ground floor and street facade, thus modernising the house for current needs.

Dům čp. 403 is witnessing key events. Hussite conquest in 1428, fires in 1576 and 1603, flood in 1825 and reconstruction in the second half of the 19th century are just some of the milestones that shaped it.

Today the townhouse No. 403 is accessible to visitors. It is worth visiting not only for its historical value, but also as an example of architectural development from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. The location in the city monument zone Javorníka highlights its importance and contributes to the historical atmosphere of the village.
