House No. 95 at the Svoboda Square in Zlatých Hora is a baroque township building with a Renaissance core, located in the historical centre of the city protected as a monument reservation. This single-storey house is important for its architectural value and rich history dating back to the 16th century, when Zlaté Hory flowered thanks to gold mining, to modern times.

The history of the house is closely linked to the fates of the city of Zlaté Hory, which faced various challenges. After blooming in the 16th century, the city was damaged in the 17th century by a 30-year war and subsequent witch trials. These events, along with other sanctions such as fires, floods and epidemics, affected the construction of townspeople's houses with medieval origins and features of the Renaissance style. House No. 95 with its Renaissance core was rebuilt in 1676 in Baroque form, reflecting architectural changes of the time.

The architecture of the house is characterized by its single-storey wall construction with an atic volute floor. The facade is smooth and divided by the cordon ledge, the parapet ledge on the floor and the main ledge, on which is mounted a volute atic floor with continuous profile and semi-circular tympanone. The ground floor has four axes with wide entrance and windows, while the floor contains three axes with champagne. The construction is further decorated with two windows in the shambles above the main ledge and an ellipse window in the tympanone. The interior of the house contains a narrow middle corridor, encapsulated by a Renaissance vaulted vault with lunettes, which adds an impression of depth and historical value.

House No. 95 was entered into the Central List of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic in 1988, which confirms its cultural and historical importance. In 1992, a town monument reserve was announced above the historical heart of Zlaté Hor, which includes this building. This protection allows the conservation of the architectural heritage and offers visitors an opportunity to explore the rich history of the city.

Today House No. 95 is available for visit, which makes it an interesting place for those interested in history and architecture. Its location on Svoboda Square in the neighbourhood of the city museum adds additional value as part of the cultural center of Zlatých Hor. Visiting this house offers a view of the historical development of the city and its ability to rise from various challenges, which is inspiring for every visitor.

House No. 95 in Zlatých Hora is therefore not only an architectural monument but also a witness to the rich history of the city. Its preservation and protection enable the following generations to appreciate and understand the important period in Czech history. Visiting this house is therefore not only a way to the past, but also a reminder of the endurance and resilience of the human spirit.

Welcome to the Golden Mountains. Right now, you're standing in Freedom Square, and in front of you, there's a house with a description number of ninety-five. Dive with us into the history of this place, listen to the storytelling and let the atmosphere of the ancient city affect you. The house you're standing in front of right now is an ordinary township object that forms a natural and important part of the historical core here. It is located in close proximity to the city museum and in its appearance and shape it completes the overall character of the whole area.

Let's take a look together into the past how this house came into being and what it's been through. The history of this building dates back to the 16th century. The original Renaissance core, which forms a solid and durable foundation of the whole building, comes from that time. During many centuries, the city has undergone many changes, building modifications and heavy tests. The great division in the life of the house came in sixteen hundred seventy-six. That's when he went through a major construction transformation in which he gained his present form. Old builders and craftsmen breathed a new character into the old Renaissance base in the spirit of the then popular baroque style.

Now pay attention to the architecture itself. You're standing in front of a single-storey walled structure, which at first sight captures its balanced composition. If you look up at the top of the facade, you can admire the athetic volute floor. This specific architectural element gives the house distinctive elegance and artistic appeal. The roof of the building is of a saddle-shaped shape, and it hides inside it a sophisticated lambstone grove. This historical carpentry is carefully supported by three standing stools, indicating the great skill and craftsmanship of our ancestors, who have been able to build a work that has served safely for centuries.

Although the names of the original architects and specific historical personalities associated with this particular house were lost in oblivion over time, the story of the building itself is very eloquent. The house lived the life of the whole city, shared the fates of local residents, merchants, craftsmen and miners who found their homes in the Golden Mountains. Each generation has left traces on the house, whether in small repairs or everyday use.

Now stop and perceive one great interesting point that underlines the importance of this place. House number ninety-five has a huge architectural value and its rich history dating back to the sixteenth century makes it the real treasure of our construction. It is because of its extraordinary value that this object was entered in the Central List of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic. The city of Zlaté Hory, whose square you are currently in, in addition, in nineteen hundred and ninety-two, obtained the well-deserved status of the city conservation. This strictly protected area includes the house that you are now facing, which guarantees that its historical face will be preserved for all future generations.

Thank you for giving your time to this interesting place. Zlaté Hory hides many other stories, monuments and corners that are worth discovering. Now you can explore the surrounding historical core, visit the neighboring city museum or simply continue your walk freely. We wish you many wonderful experiences on your next wandering history. Goodbye.

Seasonal recommendations

Spring in the historic heart of the Golden Hor opens the gates of the awakening nature, when the snow on the roof of the house the descriptive ninety-five slowly melts and reveals an ancient facade in a fine morning haze. Sun rays start to warm and irradiate stone portals, creating an ideal game of lights and shadows for photographers. During this period, you will not meet many tourists, so you will enjoy the tour in complete peace. Take your fixed shoes with you to places of wet terrain and waterproof jacket because spring showers are common. The best time to visit is in the morning, when morning fog rises over the roofs and the city is still alive.

Summer brings to the foothills full of sun and hot days, during which the lush greenery of the surrounding forests is beautifully supplemented with the warm color of the historical wall of the house. The atmosphere is lively, the air smells of resin and blooming meadows, with the shadow of ancient arches providing welcome cooling. Since this is the main tourist season, count on a higher number of visitors to visit the sights. We recommend early morning or late afternoon, when the sun is not so sharp. Wear light breathable clothes, but do not forget the headgear and bottle of drinking water, because the temperatures on the paved square can be very high.

Autumn covers house No. 95 in melancholic tones of yellowish and blushing leaves, which creates a picturesque colour harmony with historical architecture. The lighting is soft due to the low sun and creates long shadows that underscore the plastics of old building elements. Visitors have decreased, which guarantees a chamber atmosphere without pressure. The weather is usually variable, so it is suitable for layered clothes, warm sweater and wind-proof layer. The ideal time for walking is noon, when the temperature reaches daily maximum and warm rays can still make the outdoor stay more pleasant.

Winter turns Zlaté Hory into a quiet snow fairy tale, where the house under the white sheet is very peaceful and nostalgic. The early dimming and yellow light of street lamps give the place a magical holiday atmosphere, especially during the advent time when snow crushes under its feet. The crowds of tourists are disappearing in this period, so you will enjoy the scenery alone. The absolute necessity is warm winter clothes, high snowballs, hats and gloves, because mountain frost is often penetrating. The best time to visit is around noon when you can see the most daylight and temperatures are most favorable.
