The House of Rubín, located in the centre of Karlovy Vary at Vřídídní 83 / 11, is a protected building built in 1896-1897. Originally served as a spa hotel and represents the peak of late history with Art Nouveau elements. Today the house is protected as a cultural monument and serves as an apartment house.

The creation of dům Rubín is rooted in the intensive construction of representative buildings. In 1896-1897, the hotel Karl Vogl had a new building built in place of the older house according to the design of the Karlovy Vary architect Karl Heller. The construction was realized by the builder Franz Haring and was intended to serve the rental of rooms to spa guests.

Architecture dům Rubín is characteristic of late historism with Art Nouveau elements. The building has a three-story structure with a residential mansard and a three-axis street front. In the middle part there is significant risalite from the first floor up, while balconies with bars and plastic cartouche decorate the facade. The house consists of two tracts - a leading road to Vřídní Street and a courtyard road to Ondřejská Street, connected by the passage of a bright upper skylight. Originally, a mesonet business gallery was designed on the ground floor.

The ownership history of dům Rubín includes his declaration for cultural heritage on 29 March 1991, when it was entered in the register under the number SZP 34615 / 4-4532. In 2014 the house was listed in the Regeneration Programme of the Karlovy Vary Municipal Monument Zone and registered as unsatisfactory. Currently the house is owned by RAY EPSILON s.r.o.

The Rubín House is located in the spa area of the city, where it is adjacent to the Bata department store and the former townhouse Petr. Its architecture is enriched with Art Nouveau girls busts and baroque cartouche, which contributes to its historical importance.

Today it is worth visiting dům Rubín not only for its architectural beauty and historical significance, but also as a witness to the rich spa tradition of Karlovy Vary. The preservation of this work is crucial for understanding the cultural heritage of the city and attracts interested people about history and architecture.

The House of Rubín reminds us how important it is to recognise and protect our cultural monuments. It is not only part of the past, but also part of our common heritage, which deserves attention and care. Visiting this historic building is an opportunity to explore the rich history of Karlovy Vary and appreciate their architectural development.

Welcome to the heart of Karlovy Vary. You are standing in front of one of the most important buildings in this city, dům Rubín. Before you go on your walk, take a moment to pay attention to this massive building, which stands out in front of you and determines the whole atmosphere of this place. Feel the present, the weight of history that lies within these walls. This house is not just an ordinary house, it is a witness to the golden age of the spa town, which will now invite you to a time when guests seeking treatment and luxury have been found here.

Let's move forward in time together and see how this house came to be. Imagine the end of the nineteenth century, a period of great bloom and optimism. It was in these years, namely between eighteen hundred ninety-six and eighteen hundred ninety-seven, that one of the most important construction works in this part of town took place here. The goal was not just to build an ordinary house, but to create a noble spa hotel that fits the high demands of the world's elite. The whole construction process was well thought out and culminated in the completion of the construction in eighteen hundred ninety-seven, when dům Rubín first opened to its guests.

Now, when you look at his appearance, pay attention to how the building is designed. The whole complex was not a random cluster of walls, but a precise piece designed by the important architect Karl Heller. Heller must have created a complex complex, which consists of a front house facing the street and which you are paying attention to right now, and also a court wing which extends further into the inner space. When you look at his face, feel the harmony the architect created.

Notice how different artistic directions connect here. The House of Rubin represents the peak of late history. This means that the architect in his design with respect worked with the past, with the grandeur and decorum that was so appreciated at the time. But at the same time, you can feel something new in it, something fresh and organic. The elements of the Art Nouveau are reflected in the details and overall expression of the building. This new wave of art brings to architecture fineness, fluency and certain softening, which gives the whole object its unique and unmistakable character. It's a fascinating combination of tradition and modern spirit of the end of the century.

Looking at this structure, you can also imagine people who have lived here or worked here in the past. The history of this place is closely linked to several names, which at that time played an important role. The figures associated with this place include for example Karl Vogl and Franz Haring. Although their names may not appear in every normal conversation, they are crucial to understanding the life and functioning of this hotel. Imagine their presence, their decision-making and how they affected life in this luxurious spa environment.

Perhaps now you may wonder how the fate of this house has evolved throughout the century. The House of Rubin has undergone a transformation that we can see today as a transition from a magnificent hotel to today's form. Today they no longer host spa guests in the form of hotel rooms, but they serve as a house. Yet he has retained his nobility and his importance for the entire urban monument zone.

And right here, we're getting to something very interesting that should interest you. This building is not just an ordinary house, which is simply located downtown. It's an object that has its legal and cultural status. Did you know that for nearly three decades this house has been officially protected as a cultural monument? This important step was taken at the end of March in nineteen nades one, when the house was entered into the register of cultural monuments. This entry was not only a formal matter, but confirmed that dům Rubín is an integral part of the Karlovy Vary heritage and that its protection is a priority for future generations.

This protection is important precisely to preserve the specific look you're seeing right now. So that the details of the Art Nouveau and historism that Karl Heller proposed would not be lost in time and that the building would continue to operate as it should have been more than 120 years ago. It's fascinating how a building can change from a place where people have stayed for a short time to a place where people live permanently while still retaining their historic soul.

Now that you've been through the basic story of this house, I suggest you stop for a while and just observe. Look at the rhythm of the facade, see how light reflects off its surface and imagine what stories these walls could hear during all these years since eighteen hundred nades seven. Every detail, every line and every shape change on this object is part of a larger story about bloom, about change and about endurance.

I hope this short stop in front of the Rubín house was interesting to you and that it helped you better understand the importance of this place for the whole city. Karlovy Vary is full of other treasures waiting for you. So continue your journey, walk these streets and let yourself drift through the atmosphere of this beautiful city. I wish you a beautiful and inspiring walk. Goodbye.
